Greetings! Park and Recreation Month continues! The Maryland-National Capital Park
and Planning Commission has lots for everyone to enjoy here in Prince George's
County. Prepare to be part of a dance performance of great size, see Romeo and Juliet live, and enjoy a
concert in a park. Play golf, go swimming, and purchase discount tickets to an
amusement park. Live more, play more at the park and recreation facilities in
your community.

 | Show off your dance moves more
| M-NCPPC will join with the Fox hit television show So You Think You Can Dance in celebrating National Dance Day by
bringing a large group of participants together to perform a great, energetic hip-hop
dance number. National Dance Day Xplosion will be held on Saturday, July 31
from 6-10 pm at the Prince George's Sports & Learning Complex and we hope that
hundreds of youth will participate in the program. Visit www.pgxtremeteens.comto see video of the routine that'll be performed. Visit a Safe Summer site from July 19-30 to learn the dance routine. Then come to the
Xplosion on the 31st and be part of the biggest dance performance in
Prince George's County!

 | Enjoy performances in the parks more
| Romeo and
Juliet will be performed this week (Wednesday-Sunday, July 21-July
25) at various locations throughout the county. These live performances are
FREE! There's also music in the air this week at Oxon Hill Manor and Bladensburg

Learn
to swim safely more
| The Department of Parks & Recreation has joined
forces with the USA Swimming Foundation's "Make a Splash" initiative
to offer FREE water safety & swim lessons to youth ages 6-17 in Prince
George's County this summer. There are four "Make a Splash"
sites including Allentown Fitness & Splash Park (Fort Washington), Fairland
Aquatic Center (Laurel), Prince George's Sports & Learning Complex
(Landover), and Rollingcrest Chillum Splash Pool (Chillum). The second session
of this program begins Friday, July 23 (Friday, July 30 at Fairland) with spots
still available for the youth level 2 and pre-teen/teen classes. Sign up

Engage in the arts more
| The
first Lanham Arts Infusion family celebration, featuring The Billy Taylor
Jazzmobile from New York City, will be held this Saturday, July 24, from
2-8 pm at Lanham Sports Park (7700 Good Luck Road). This event,
co-sponsored with the Prince George's Arts Council, brings the community, art and music lovers together. Live,
world-class entertainment will be showcased. Art exhibitions, a kids pavilion,
arts, crafts and food will be available. The Jazzmobile will stage music
demonstrations for attendees during the day, which will then be highlighted
with evening performances by the great Winard Harper Sextet, Marcus Mitchell
