The Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning
Commission has lots to enjoy here in Prince George's County this week. See a
play about Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
Use your creativity to construct a section of a special, paper quilt.
Design and build your own aircraft. Explore the park system and enjoy the
social, healthy, fun recreation programs and activities.

Performance about Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

I Have a
Dream, a wonderful, live performance will be held at the Publick Playhouse
on Wednesday, January 20 at 10:15 am and again at 12 noon. The phenomenal
impact of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. is chronicled in this compelling dramatization
of his life and times. The audience will be inspired by the story of this great
leader's struggle and his dream of lifting "our nation from the quicksand of
racial injustice to the solid rock of brotherhood." This event is recommended for
those in grade 3 on up to adults. Tickets are just $6/person or $5/person in groups
of 15 or more. Tickets for the 12 noon show only are FREE for seniors (60 &

Frederick Douglass paper quilt
|
Youth ages 10-17 are invited to come to Upper Marlboro Community Center and help us get ready for Black History Month. Show your creativity
and construct your part of a paper quilt of Frederick Douglass. Stop by for
any/all program sessions - Friday, January 22; Saturday, January 23; Friday,
January 29; and Saturday, January 30; 7-8 pm each night! The program is FREE. Beginning
Friday, February 5, the quilt will be on display throughout the month to

your own aircraft from LEGOŽ bricks

College Park Aviation Museum is
hosting a LEGOŽ building day on
Saturday, January 23 between 11 am and 4 pm. Stop by to design your own
aircraft from LEGOs that we'll provide, and take home a picture of your
aviation creation. Top designs will be displayed throughout the museum! This event is open to everyone...
aspiring aeronautical engineers of all ages! Regular museum admission
($4/adults, $3/seniors, $2/ages 2-18, FREE/children under 2) includes this LEGOŽ activity.

which will be held at Baden Community Center on Saturday, January 30

A musical
performance extraordinaire

Enjoy an extraordinary Black History Month concert at Montpelier Mansion featuring members of the Society for the Preservation of African
American Arts. Singing slave songs and spirituals, and reenacting slaves living
on a plantation in the 1800s, the singers will captivate the audience during
this program scheduled for Saturday, January 30 at 2 pm (snow date/time Sunday,
February 6, 2 pm). The concert is recommended for those ages 10 & up.

Montpelier members and $15/all others. Advance payment and reservations

There's never been a better time to be a senior in Prince George's
County. Check out the terrific programs offered for those ages 60 & better
at M-NCPPC senior centers and community centers throughout the
county. In conjunction with a special program honoring centenarians this
spring, the Department of Parks and Recreation is currently looking for contact
information about county residents born on or before December 31, 1920. If you
know a Prince George's County resident who will be age 90 or older by the end
of 2010, please click here to share the information with us. Your help
