Buddy is a mule who was on his way to
the "glue
factory" before he was rescued by my dear
friend
Petra Cuddy of Welland,
Ontario.
Buddy had issues. He was terrified of people, especially men and for anyone (like the Farrier or the Vet) to get close to him he literally had to be tied to a tree with three ropes. He was dangerous! Petra called me and asked if I could come and tap on Buddy. When I arrived at Petra's farm, Buddy was
standing at the far end of a paddock. Petra
said that that was normal behaviour for
Buddy whenever a stranger came onto the
property.
I started surrogate tapping for Buddy. I tapped on myself and said "I am Buddy and I don't know who this man is and it is making me nervous." I continued tapping on myself saying things like "I don't know if I can trust this man", "I'm afraid he might be here to hurt me" Within a couple of minutes Buddy started walking towards us. Petra's comment at that time was "Hmmm, this is interesting". She was surprised that Buddy would even consider coming over to us. When Buddy got to where we were standing I
continued tapping on behalf of Buddy. "Even though I
feel threatened by this man I choose to be calm and
relaxed" "Even though I'm scared and acting like a
Jack Ass" (joke). Buddy calmed down some more.
Within minutes Buddy allowed me to reach up and pat
him on the neck, he then allowed me to start tapping
on him. Petra was blown away by what she was
witnessing. She went into the barn (I thought she was
going to get some treats) and came back with the
ropes that were used to tie Buddy to the tree whenever
the Vet or Farrier came. She walked up beside Buddy
and me with the ropes in her hand and Buddy didn't
even
flinch. Through testing, it appeared that EFT had
relieved Buddy of his fear.
Well, we all know the real test will be when the Farrier
or the Vet comes to work on Buddy. Five days after the
tapping session the farrier arrived to work on Buddy.
Buddy had absolutely no problem with the farrier
working on him. The farrier even commented that this
was amazing and is now signed up for a Level I EFT
course. The Veterinarian came out yesterday to give
Buddy his needles. She didn't even think it was the
same animal. Buddy stood there calmly and allowed
the Vet and her assistant work on him. Petra said
Buddy did startle when the Vet injected the needle but
did not rear or kick.
