Introducing... the Washington Revels Blog!

Experience Revels in a new way

We have thought about creating a Washington Revels blog for a while - so, finally we've gone and done it. For now, at least, as you might expect, its focus will be on the upcoming Christmas Revels production.

You'll hear from two bloggers to start. Helen Fields is a veteran Revels chorus member who also just happens to be a free-lance journalist. She will give you an insider's look at what it's like to be in the cast of a Christmas Revels. Elizabeth Miller is the Washington Revels (and Christmas Revels) Music Director. She began with Revels as a cast member in 1993. As you might expect, she will shed light on all things musical.

There will be more bloggers as time goes on. The other voices you will hear are...well, your own, perhaps? Everyone is invited to participate with comments to the bloggers, comments to the comments, etc. Stay abreast of what's happening, and join the fun!

Washington Revels at 32nd Annual InterFaith Concert

Tuesday, November 15 at 7:30pm

Washington National Cathedral
This year's Christmas Revels presents Jewish, Arabic and Spanish music, dance and drama on the same stage. It thus implicitly honors the symbol (however imperfect) that Andalusia has become of greater tolerance and acceptance among the three Abrahamic faiths and world cultures generally.

In recognition of this, the InterFaith Conference of Metropolitan Washington invited Washington Revels to participate in the 32nd Annual Interfaith Concert this Tuesday evening at the Washington National Cathedral. Over 30 performers from this year's show will join singers and dancers from the Hindu and Jain, Jewish, Latter-day Saints, Protestant and Sikh communities. Each group will perform 5-10 minutes on its own and sing two rousing songs with the combined choir.

Reflecting the theme of December's show, the Revels ensemble will sing "Riu Riu Chiu" in Spanish and then lead the amassed singers and audience in the world premiere of the "Shalom Chaverim" peace round sung in both Hebrew and Arabic.

For tickets, visit tickets.cathedral.org or call the Cathedral Box Office at 202-537-2228.
