Come hear the genuine sound of English traditional folk music, on authentic instruments such as the serpent, an ancestor of the tuba.
The Mellstock Band entertains with a unique combination of singing, instrumental music and spoken word, encompassing west gallery harmony, traditional songs, glees, dances, marches, poems and stories. The poetry and prose come from Thomas Hardy and other writers, and they combine with the music to illuminate its background and summon up the spirit of the era.
Join Washington Revels for this very special evening of merry and majestic tunes, songs of love and laughter, carols and original harmonies from the time of Thomas Hardy.
