The 28th Annual Christmas Revels A Festive Start to the Holiday Season
|
Join us for the show that The Washington Post says "... should be part of every family's holiday festivities."
Travel to a 19th-century English village to mark the Winter Solstice. We'll celebrate an English Country Christmas with traditional carols, anthems, rounds, country dancing, and a hilarious mummer's play.
Join the acclaimed Revels company (more than 75 performers, ages 8 to 80) to explore Thomas Hardy's beloved (if fictional) Wessex and the charming village of Mellstock. This year's guest artists, The Mellstock Band, come from England with a wonderful collection of string and wind instruments, including the haunting "serpent," a snake-like ancestor of the tuba. You'll also find Revels favorites Foggy Bottom Morris Men, Cutting Edge Sword Dancers, and our ever-delightful brass band.
8 PERFORMANCES: December 4-5 & 10-12 (matinees and evenings) Lisner Auditorium, 21st and H Streets NW, Washington DC>> Learn more and purchase tickets online

Le temps des Fêtes New Revels CD of French Canadian Music
|
Washington Revels is launching its own recording label with the December release of a CD of French Canadian music and dance--Le temps des Fêtes.
Tune up to celebrate in French Canadian style with Québécois music, dancing, and tales! The 31 tracks on this recording feature numbers from our 2008 Christmas Revels--including special performances by dancer Pierre Chartrand, fiddler Éric Favreau, and accordion master Stéphane Landry along with local singers Riki Schneyer and Stephen Winick, guitarist John Devine, our storyteller Katrina Van Duyn--and, of course, the Washington Revels Chorus, Children and Brass Quintet!
Copies of the CD are expected to arrive at the Revels office just before Thanksgiving. They will be on sale during this year's Christmas Revels shows at Lisner Auditorium. Stay tuned for more details!
