New Year, New Website!

With the New Year, NYARA is excited to tackle some new challenges. First, we are stoked to have a New Website which you can access by clicking on the image to the right. We'll continue to make improvements to the site over the coming months so check back often.

Next, we've got a robust Event Calendar ready to rock your adventure racing world. All of your favorite events are back with a few others added to keep the first timer to the seasoned pro busy all year long.

Hike-A-Thong- February 6th

verybody's favorite trail run is back on February 6th. Once again, the hike/run will be approximately 20 miles and will take place at lovely Sterling Forest. There will be a few checkpoints on the course and just to make it extra fun, we'll require you to carry 10% of your body weight. NYARA Thongs will be distributed to all participants but please plan on wearing more than just your thong! We'll keep you posted as to weather conditions - snowshoes may be an option depending on the trails.

Cold Feat 10K - February 19th

The second annual Cold Feat 10K trail race at La Tourette Golf Course on Staten Island takes place on February 19th. Plan on it being a chilly good time! Runners should note that the course will follow trails on uneven terrain which can be a little treacherous at times. Depending on the conditions, a snow shoe and cross country ski category may be added. And to keep you warm and toasty, each runner will receive a fleece neck gaiter.

East Coast Adventure Racing Series

NYARA is proud to team up with the best adventure racing organizations on the east coast to bring you the East Coast Adventure Racing Series. NYARA, American Adventure Sports, GOALS, Odyssey, and Rev3 will all have qualifying races which will enable teams to participate in the East Coast Championship at the end of September. To make the pot a little sweeter, over $18,000 in cash prizes plus $30,000 in gear/product will be part of the series.

For NYARA, The Longest Day and The Shag will both be qualifying races for the ECAR.
