Wednesday, July 8, 2009 - 8:30am - Hill's Kitchen - 713 D Street, SE
Co-sponsored by CHAMPS, Capitol Hill BID, and Barracks Row Main Street
CHAMPS, Capitol Hill BID, and Barracks Row Main Street
will co-host a forum, the goal of which is to give business and
commercial property owners the opportunity to review each development
proposal and ask questions that are specifically related to the effects
of each proposal on the neighboring business community prior to the
July 10, 2009 deadline for public comment. All four proposals are
available online at www.capitolhill.org
and attendees are strongly encouraged to review each of them before
attending the forum. Each team has been asked to give a 10 minute
presentation specifically focusing on the following topics:
how each plan will ensure that their offerings complement rather than compete with existing businesses;
how/if each plan incorporates opportunities for expansion of existing Hill businesses;
any strategies being taken to allow current business owners to lease space at an affordable rate;
how
each plan envisions the construction process and how the effects of
ongoing construction might affect neighboring businesses;
how each plan addresses the potential unity of 7th Street, Pennsylvania Avenue, and 8th Street; and
how each plan relates to the future re-design of the Eastern Market metro plaza.
Following
the presentations, there will be a question and answer period, with
priority given to business and commercial property owners. For
attendees unable to attend the full forum, note cards will be on hand
so that questions can be submitted - along with contact information for
follow-ups.
This forum is free and open to the public, but space is
limited, so it is imperative that you RSVP if you are attending. RSVP
using the email address provided below. Coffee and light refreshments will be
served courtesy of Peregrine Espresso.
For questions regarding the forum, please contact Julia Christian, CHAMPS Executive Director at champs@capitolhill.org or Nina Liggett, Capitol Hill BID Program Manager at nliggett@capitolhillbid.org.
