From this vantage point, things look very different.  I'm reminded of how small a piece we really are in the scope of time and the scope of this planet.  How these mountains, rivers, trees have seen climates, governments, religions, economies, technological advances, ideologies, and certainly people come and go.  And they remain and remain.  We are living in their world -- not the other way around.

 

At this altitude, I'm reminded we just worry way too much.  About everything.  All is truly well.  It really is.

 

A lot of my colleagues remark on how much airline travel has become the bane of our existence in this overall terrifically-satisfying industry of ours.  And while I will admit to a degree of tediousness with the process of getting on a plane, I actually enjoy and look forward to the actual plane ride itself.  I find it a place where I can put on some music, gaze out the window, and read, write, create, dream.  I also get a frequent reminder at this height above our noisy, busy humanity to reflect on the bigger, wider, quieter picture.  And every time, I'm comforted with a sure sense that all is well in my world in the long run, whatever struggles I have and whatever crisis I'm trying so hard to manage back down there on the ground.
