The Lioness Principle bottom-line: Follow Your Gut.
The lioness instinctively knows that in order to protect the lives of her cubs, secure the pride, and ensure the continuation of the species, she must teach her cubs to be successful hunters. In fact, she also knows that they were born with all the skills they need. Her job is not so much to teach as to tease out of them what they already intuitively know. Her instinct tells her to recognize their internal knowledge and help them master it quickly and deeply.
We have this same instinctual knowing. This same intuitive voice. We call it by different names: Gut instinct, intuition, higher power, inner voice, sixth sense. But whatever name you give it... we've all heard it loud and clear at some point in our lives. It is actually operating for our benefit, 24 / 7.
Over the next few Monday Morning Stretches, we'll be exploring how you know it's your intuition or gut instinct talking vs. your intellect or brain. For this week's stretch, let me simply ask you to contemplate any past decisions you've made where you reflected on that decision and said, "I'm so sorry I listened to my gut!" Conversely, how many times have you bemoaned, "I wish I would have listened to my gut on that one!"
The gut instinct is always there -- it's always right -- it's always calm, concise, and patient. This week, attempt to "check in" in with your gut instinct when needing to make a decision. Whether you decide to go with your gut or not, notice how the instinct on what feels right is always there for you.
More on the language of the gut next Monday. Until then, have an instinctively fabulous week!
