Dear ,
New This Week...
"How To Do Shabbos Dinner"
Friday, August 31, 2012
TAO is hosting its first "How To Do Shabbos Dinner" on Friday, August 31, 2012 at Artserve. Join us for an experiential evening that will teach and encourage all who attend to "Do Shabbos Dinner" at home with joy and spirituality. "How To Do Shabbos Dinner" came about when Joe and Rebecca Negrin met with Rabbi Marc seeking advice on how to bring more spirituality into their home. Rabbi Marc asked if they lighted the candles and had Shabbos dinner in their own home. They shyly admitted that they did not know
"how to do a Shabbos dinner". And so the idea was born. The Negrins thought maybe there would be other congregants like them that did not have this knowledge. They hope the dinner is a great success and everyone comes away with a new tradition to bring into their homes.
Please bring Shabbat candles, candlesticks and your vegetarian Shabbat meal for your family. TAO will supply grape juice, challah and tableware. Rabbi Marc will lead us through the rituals and traditions of making Shabbos dinner for your family. If you want to learn or if you're a seasoned Shabbat hostess, join us for this experiential Shabbat Dinner. There will be table seating in place of our usual theater style seating with 4 to a table.

Yizkor Yom Kippur is distinguished by the Yizkor Memorial Service. In Yizkor (May He Remember) prayers, we ask Hashem to remember the souls of our loved ones who passed. These include primarily family members; husbands and wives, parents and grandparents, brothers and sisters, aunts and uncles, and children. Whether you worship with us or not, we believe you wish to have a memory of your departed loved ones included in the Yizkor Scroll of Remembrance book. Special prayers for those recorded are recited by the Rabbis. You may also have their names permanently inscribed on the gorgeous, memorial Yahrtzeit Plaque

Rabbi Shoni and Dr. Lisa 's "Birthing Balance Series" Continues
Rabbi Marc personally invites and encourages newer members and first-timers to learn one-on-one with Rabbi Shoni Labowitz and Dr. Lisa Sirota-Weiner in this revealing discussion and interactive experience on "The F Word: Fear" as our Birthing Balance Series continues. Does Fear really exist? Is it a human-invention or God-invention? This will take place at the home of Rabbi Shoni between Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur - Saturday, September 22 from 1- 3 p.m.. Remember to bring a journal with you.
For Members Only. 10 openings. RSVP to the TAO office - 954-888-1408.

TAO (Temple Adath Or) is the South Florida Center for Jewish Renewal. We are a warm expression of joyful Judaism that brings Judaism to the 21st Century.
Jewish Renewal is about breathing life and meaning into Judaism. It is a return to the mystic roots of Abraham. It teaches that when we touch the Divine within and allow That to shine through us, we achieve a life of balance, harmony and loving kindness. In its essence, Renewal helps us to access the God within.
TAO services are filled with joy as we sing our way through Shabbat. Prayer, meditation and movement are always a part of everything we do.
Join us the first and third Friday of each month. Whether you are Jewish, non-Jewish or want to feel Jewish again, you will be touched by the depth, joy and connection you will feel at our Services.

TAO's Adopted Family
|
Through our support of the Touch A Heart Foundation, TAO has adopted a family whom we will try to offer visits and support during the coming year.
Our "adopted" family consists of a 63 year old grandma with custody of two grandsons, a 10 and 11 year old. Grandma has MS, and on a good day uses a cane. More often she requires a walker or wheelchair. Her greatest fear is losing her home which is the only home the boys have ever known and handicap accessible for her. Their only income at this time is Social Security.
As the holidays draw near, if you would like to make a donation towards food or holiday gifts for our adopted family, please contact the TAO office at 954-888-1408.
We plan to visit our family throughout the holidays and throughout the year. If you are interested in being a part of one of these visits, please let Renee know at 954-888-1408 or by email at Renee@TAOCenter.net. This is a wonderful mitzvah project and we hope each of you can participate in this mitzvah in some small or large way.

When you share your sweetness to celebrate Galia's birthday (December 6) and Ocean's birthday (June 28) and other occasions, please donate to TAO instead of generously offering toys, clothing and other gifts. In this way, children will benefit from your sweet generosity. Paulina and Rabbi Marc will be informed that you gifted their children and performed an act of Tzedakah in their honor.
