New This Week...
TAO Welcomes New President Sandy King
Sandy King was installed as president of the Board of Directors of TAO at our annual Town Hall Meeting on Sunday, July 8th. New Board Members Pam Kelner and Robert Zveibil were installed to their positions on the Board as well. Anne Goldberg was discharged from her office as President and continues as a board member along with Membership Vice President Bob Heaton for another term.
We appreciate all the time, effort and love that Anne has contributed to TAO and for her years of service as president. We look forward to continued success and growth with our new president and Board of Directors.
A Message From Our Past President
Welcome. I want to start by saying thank you to all of you for allowing me the opportunity to be in service for the past four years. This community has taught me so much, has given me so much. I have become a better person for it and deeply appreciate the chance to get a better perspective of the issues in my own life by being of service to something outside myself.
TAO is a very unique and special community - warm, loving and genuinely concerned for your well-being. And...we are listening to you. You wanted less "paid" programming, so this year we limited our paid events to just two...
SPA DAY - which was an unprecedented success thanks to our members and their loved ones (and of course- Jenae, Dottie, Pam, Irene and the hard-working team that put that event together) and ...
our annual GALA, which this year honored our founding rabbis - R Shoni and R Phil.
We prayed together through the High Holy Days into Chanukkah and on through Counting the Omer and Shavouth. We gather in community to pray joyously together on Shabbat at Artserve and, for members only, once AT LEAST TWICE a month at the Rabbi's home including the opportunity to bathe in holy silence at Saturday Meditation.
Men's and Women's Spirituality Groups are stronger and more vibrant than ever and... we will be starting a new WSG in Delray Beach, so those of you living in the northern part of the tri-county area will be better served by us. Watch the newsletter for details.
This year members have been treated to an on-going series of how to "balance our lives" given with great love and wisdom by Rabbi Shoni and Dr. Lisa Sirota-Weiner. If you haven't experienced these "salons" I urge you to RSVP when they are offered next.
As you probably know, in most synagogues the board of directors runs the show and the Rabbi is "hired help." To me, that has always smacked of the tail wagging the dog. One of the reasons I came onto our board was the understanding that this spiritually-based community takes its lead from the Rabbi. At TAO, the course is set by the Rabbi and the Board exists to help him successfully navigate to his objectives. It is a distinction that is critical to know in order to understand just how unique we are.
One of Rabbi Marc's recent objectives has been to ensure TAO's legacy with an outreach to a younger membership. And judging by the faces I see at services & events... he is succeeding.
We welcome each and every one of you. We welcome your energy, your ideas, your passion, your commitment and your creativity. We are grateful that you see in us the authentic urge towards TRUTH as defined by the Torah and all paths to Universal wisdom.
As we grow, we will expand our understanding of each other and of community. We will work together to forge a spiritual community that stands at the head of social action and change... Change that starts from within and radiates out into the world like a lighthouse.
The lighthouse that is always there
Whether or not the ships navigate to safety or crash on the rocks
(Whether you are celebrating a simcha or suffering in the throes of grief)
The lighthouse simply HOLDS THE LIGHT. IT IS ALWAYS THERE... And, like the lighthouse, TAO is always there, lighting the way, for you.
And with renewal just around the corner, it's time for you to be here for us. This is when you get to let us know we've been doing something right for the past 12 months. By renewing your membership, you give us the thumbs up, you tell us you want to help keep this community alive giving it the ability to continue to be here for you and for others.
And it has never been easier to renew. And, did you hear... if you renew before our next Shabbat service on July 20th, you are entered into a drawing for a $250 credit towards your membership (1st prize) or a $100 credit (2nd prize.) How wonderful! And, you do not need to be present to win!
So please give us the important message that you value us, as we value you, and that you want us to continue to be here for you and your loved ones. Renew your membership and make your voice heard that you want TAO to continue its remarkable work in the world.
On behalf of the Rabbis and the Board of Directors, thank you for your continued support.
SHALOM AND Namaste,

Additionally, we need a few people to commit to help clean up after Oneg Shabbat. Please let us know if you can spend a little extra time at ArtServe after each service so we can leave the room as lovely as we find it.

TAO (Temple Adath Or) is the South Florida Center for Jewish Renewal. We are a warm expression of joyful Judaism that brings Judaism to the 21st Century.
Jewish Renewal is about breathing life and meaning into Judaism. It is a return to the mystic roots of Abraham. It teaches that when we touch the Divine within and allow That to shine through us, we achieve a life of balance, harmony and loving kindness. In its essence, Renewal helps us to access the God within.
TAO services are filled with joy as we sing our way through Shabbat. Prayer, meditation and movement are always a part of everything we do.
Join us the first and third Friday of each month. Whether you are Jewish, non-Jewish or want to feel Jewish again, you will be touched by the depth, joy and connection you will feel at our Services.

TAO's Adopted Family
Through our support of the Touch A Heart Foundation
, TAO has adopted a family whom we will try to offer visits and support during the coming year.
Our "adopted" family consists of a 63 year old grandma with custody of two grandsons, a 10 and 11 year old. Grandma has MS, and on a good day uses a cane. More often she requires a walker or wheelchair. Her greatest fear is losing her home which is the only home the boys have ever known and handicap accessible for her. Their only income at this time is Social Security.
As the holidays draw near, if you would like to make a donation towards food or holiday gifts for our adopted family, please contact the TAO office at 954-888-1408.
We plan to visit our family throughout the holidays and throughout the year. If you are interested in being a part of one of these visits, please let Renee know at 954-888-1408 or by email at [email protected]
This is a wonderful mitzvah project and we hope each of you can participate in this mitzvah in some small or large way.

.Galia & Ocean Funds
In the spirit of Tzedakah, Paulina and Rabbi Marc set up two funds at TAO - a Galia fund and an Ocean fund. A portion of these funds is used to send toys and other needed items to Jewish and non-Jewish organizations that serve children, including Jafco.
When you share your sweetness to celebrate Galia's birthday (December 6) and Ocean's birthday (June 28) and other occasions, please donate to TAO instead of generously offering toys, clothing and other gifts. In this way, children will benefit from your sweet generosity.
Paulina and Rabbi Marc will be informed that you gifted their children and performed an act of Tzedakah in their honor.
Both Paulina and Rabbi Marc appreciate the health, toys and love their children have and want to give others the opportunity to share as well. To donate, Donate to Galia or Ocean fund
