Greetings! Spring is leaving and summer enters in all its green glory. I have bought several hibiscus bushes and started mandevilla vines on my arched trellis. I may have told you that my office faces the back patio and I have a large window through which I see the back yard and all the flowers. It’s quite wonderful. I hope you have the best summer ever. The weekend celebration of my son, David, and his wife Arienne’s wedding was beautiful and went off without a hitch. It was, as one of my friends said, a love fest. The sun shone. It streamed through tall trees and glistened on the river on whose banks the simple, short service was held. The bride and groom, both fifty years old, were old friends as they have known one another since college. They looked at each other with love and delight, and we were all so very happy for them. My old friends came to celebrate, and for me it was also a grand reunion. As one gets older this becomes even more important than when we were young.
Two Days After The Wedding, the 6th novel in the Ladies of Covington series, will be in bookstores on June 6th. Hannah and Max will be married, at last, and you are all invited to their wedding in the church on Cove Road, and join them on their trip to Virginia for their honeymoon. The cover of this novel is different, but please be assured it is the 6th in this series. I hope that you will enjoy its twists and turns and the many characters, with whom old readers will be familiar and new readers will meet and, I hope, take a fancy to.
I am creating a new category for this newsletter, a question and answer category. Curious about the process of writing, or about the characters, or anything pertaining to me or my novels? Just ask! Several questions will be answered in each newsletter, and if yours is answered, you will be given credit for asking, unless you specify not to mention your name. The first questions and answers will appear in July’s newsletter. I look forward to hearing from you. Do send your questions to me at jmedlicott@mindspring.com
On the 17th of July, my granddaughter and I will leave by car for Des Moines, Iowa. I am scheduled for three events at the Red Hat Convention: an informal dinner with 40 fan club members, an informal chat with 125 ladies, and a formal talk at breakfast for as many as 450 attendees. I look forward to meeting my sister red hatters and to visiting Iowa.
In July I will announce a color photo contest with a first, second and third prize. The category will be landscapes. So start shooting.
