Dear Colleague,
Times flies

February flew by.

I was out of the office for some minor surgery on my nose. Thank you for all the well wishes. It is wonderful to be able to breathe clearly.

I may have been out of the office, but our volunteers were still diligently working away on various projects.  Details below on their many ongoing programs and projects.

Pull out your calendar. We have plenty of events that you don't want to miss!

"Local Flavors" Found Souderton!

wfmz

Trish  Stubbs worked hard to make everything perfect for her debut on WFMZ.  She did a great job. Check out the video.

Classic Italian Dinner was A Huge Success
caruso fundraiser winnerThe fundraiser at Caruso's was a winner in so many ways.

First of all, we raised $2,535 for our general operating fund!

Second, we had an evening of fun and camaraderie. We heard such positive  comments about how many people were socializing between tables.

We hosted 52 people for a wonderful meal, amazing desert and fund-raising! From selling tickets for a chance to win a bottle of donated wine to enjoy with dinner to the silent auction items, we leveraged the donated items to benefit our efforts.

Add in the door prizes and every table seemed to have at least one item that they won.  Many tables were overflowing with baskets, prizes and bottles of wine.

The Promotion Committee members, Board members and other volunteers donated items to the dinner, worked at one meal and purchased tickets for the other meal. That is dedication!

More importantly, they had fun. This attitude was contagious and the people attending the event joined in the fun.  We even had causal diners, who just stopped at the restaurant for dinner, join in when the silent auctions got noisy and rowdy!

So a hearty thank you to everyone who donated an item for door prizes, auction items and wine.  Your support helped us make it a very profitable evening for STMS.

Your Support has been Remarkable!
search and scan 2

The response to our call for old photos has been amazing.  Over 1000 photos have been scanned so far and we are still searching and scanning.

On Saturday March 12 and March 26 from 10 am to 1pm, we will be hosting two more public Search and Scan sessions. By April 1, the focus will turn to writing the captions for the chosen 240 photos for the book. So, don't delay!

This great video and article from the Souderton Independent captures the enthusiasm that our volunteers have for this project!

So stop by the STMS office at 18 Green Street, Souderton on Saturday, March 12 and 26 to share your photos. We will scan them, take down your story about the photo and return the photo to you.

Bucks County will host a free "EnergyWorks" information session for local contractors and energy auditors on Wednesday, March 16 at 8:30 am. The location is the Central Bucks Chamber of Commerce office at 252 Swamp Rd. Bailiwick Office Campus Suite #23, Doylestown.

This workshop is designed to help contractors and energy auditors to receive their approval to participate in a program in Bucks, Chester, Delaware, Montgomery, and Philadelphia counties to help homeowners make their homes energy efficient.

The southeastern Pennsylvania-based EnergyWorks program requires homeowners to have their home assessed to determine its energy efficiency. These home energy audits will be conducted by BPI-certified building analysts. EnergyWorks combines rebates for home energy audits with low-interest loans to encourage homeowners to participate.

One of the points I repeat to our Promotions Committee is "we don't have to run everything in town, but we do need to promote them."

John Ralston took that to heart when he had a chance to branch out into radio. His show, Indian Valley Live, features the community events and organizations in the Souderton Area School District and the Indian Valley.

He gives me 5-10 minutes each week to talk about what STMS has going on and then he brings in interesting guests to talk about a variety of exciting topics. You can book your group by filling out a form on the IVLive website.

Past shows are archives so you don't need to be at your radio from 11:10 am to noon on Monday mornings. You can listen at your computer.
