Dear Colleague,
snow and iceGood Morning, Reader,

Don't you just love Pennsylvania weather? We are blessed with variety mixed with a heavy sprinkling of the unexpected.

The trees outside my window are all lined with ice. As beautiful as they look, the sound of my neighbors struggling to clear the sidewalks and driveways is the reality of these storms.

Here in the Indian Valley, we are a hearty bunch. Below you find a list of the activities planned throughout February. Just because we have no idea of what the weather will bring, why would we stopping organizing fun and productive events?

Pull up your calendar and let's get started.

"Local Flavors" Found Souderton!

wfmz
Here's a shout out to The Caboose Grille and Tilly Mint Tea Room

Channel 69/WFMZ in the Lehigh Valley has found out what we all know... you can find some great "Local Flavors" in Souderton.

The featured the Caboose Grille last week in this weekly segment on great places to eat. Watch the video

On Wednesday February 9, they will be filming in Tilly Mint Tea Room. Trish is taking reservations if you care to be a part of the fun.
Classic Italian Dinner with Main Streets
Three's the charm.  We have a third date for this event.  We have rescheduled it for Thursday, February 10.  We are trying to get away from the Tuesday/Wednesday foul weather cycle that has been plaguing us.

The early dinner is nearly sold out but we still have plenty of tickets for the 7:30 pm meal.

Judging from the enthusiastic response we received when we called everyone who had a reservation for the original date, we are going to have a great time at this event.

Judging from all the wonderful door prizes, bottles of wine and auction items that have been donated, we should have a successful evening of fundraising.

If you are planning to attend, you must call Caruso's at 215.799.1312 to make your reservation.

Prepay for your ticket and you will receive an extra door prize ticket. Get all the details at our website. Now call Caruso's and make your reservations, ASAP!

We are still happy to come pick up last minute donations, too!
Your Family History is Souderton's History
Arcadia Logo
If your family history in Souderton predates 1969, your family photos may have a place in the Souderton History Book that we are doing.

We are also looking for Telford photos for a future book. 2012 is the 125th Anniversary of the Borough of Souderton. That is why Souderton's book is first.

On two Saturdays in February, the task force working on this project will hold a "Search and Scan" session at the Main Street office. February 5 and 19 are the dates we will be ready to scan your photos and take down any information you may have about the picture, the people in it and where it was taken. They will be available from 10 am to 1 pm

Our historians are good sleuths. "The smelly cheese factory on Wile Avenue" lead them to a wealth of information about cheese manufacturing in Souderton.  They may be able to help you learn more about your personal family history as they research the community history.

If you have a larger collection, the team can arrange to come to your home to scan the photos and take your information. Let's make this truly a community project. Contact the Main Street office at 215-723-6627 or by email with your questions.
Leadership Transition
AicheleAs the leadership at Keystone Opportunity Center changes, we want to both welcome E. Richard Aichele III and bid a fond farewell to Karen Kispert in that role.

The KOC Board is hosting a special reception on Wednesday evening, February 9, from 7 pm to 9 pm in the Univest Lobby on West Broad Street. There will be a special presentation at 7:30 pm. Please contact Brenda Oelschlager if you want to attend at 215-723-5430 x121.

A Musical Set in A Trailer Park!?!

Great American Trailer park musical One of the highlights of working with the Montgomery Theater is to see what shows have been chosen for the upcoming season. Tom Quinn and his staff never let us down.

The opening show for the 2011 season is a musical. This one has that signature stamp of Tom's warped perspective. How can anyone resist seeing "The Great American Trailer Park Musical?

Go ahead, tell someone that title with a straight face.

Get your tickets now because they will go fast. The press release is on our website and you can get tickets on the Montgomery Theater's website. Who says professional theater has to be high-brow?

They are hosting wine tasting with light refreshments on Tuesday, February 8 from 5-8 pm at Fredrick's Flowers.

Stop in and pick up the wine you have been missing since the Indian Valley Farmers' Market closed in October. Joy would be happy to see you!

Weekly Main Street Minute
IVLive logoIf you are reading this, the odds are high that you are very involved with life in the Indian Valley. You should also be listening to the Indian Valley Live radio show on WNPV1440

Host John Ralston invites local non-profits that serve the Indian Valley to come talk about their mission and upcoming activities. It is fun and informative.

He generously lets us talk about Souderton Telford Main Streets and the issues facing our communities every week.

If you don't have time to turn on the radio, the shows are archived online for your convenience.
