| October 29, 2010 | E-Update Souderton Telford Main Streets
|
|
Dear Reader,
The fund-raising campaign is going well.
Each check we receive is a vote of confidence that the residents and business owners in the boroughs like the changes that are happening in the downtowns. If you have not put your check in the mail, you also have the option of paying online with Paypal or a credit card. Thank you to everyone who has taken the time to write a check to invest in the revitalization of our communities. Many are new subscribers to this email. Erika Pipe, our (former) office manager, has found new employment at a local business. Our loss is their gain. We will miss her calm efficiency and good natured competence.Since we will not be replacing her in the near future, you will only be receiving one of these newsletters a month for a while. What took two people one day to produce now takes one person two days. Please subscribe to the RSS feed on our website to stay up-to-date on all the community events and business resources that I will continue to post there throughout the month. We will also post on the Souderton Telford Main Streets Facebook regularly. Many local businesses also post there. This issue of the update looks like a kick-off for our holiday plans. Thank you for subscribing to this newsletter. Please share it with your colleagues, friends and family.
Sincerely,
|

Share With Anyone Who may Need This
John Ralston has taken our Main Street mantra of "We don't need to run everything; but we do need to promote everything" to heart.
He now has a radio show on Monday mornings at WNPV that features everything that is going on with community groups in the Indian Valley region.
Yes, he has a weekly spot for Main Streets. I enjoy going to the station every Monday morning to interact with his other guests. I learn something new every week. You will, too.
Listen to past shows at the online archives and track upcoming guests at the show's website.
47 people clicked through in the last email blast to listen to the interview with the principles of the Broad Theater talk about their plans!

 | Melodia Grill Is Shining! |

Two exciting events coming up in the next two weeks
This weekend, they will be participating in the 2010 Philadelphia Food and Wine Festival at the Valley Forge Convention Center. They will be one of the more than 200 stations featuring foods, wine, ales, liquors, and more from world renowned restaurants and purveyors. Check out the show guide at the website. Their second event is on Nov. 10 when they pair up with Sand Castle Winery for a gourmet paring of wine and food. We have a copy of the mouth-watering menu for the evening at Main Street office. The chef at Melodia Grill is presenting an inspired selection of food to be paired with wines from Sand Castle. You will learn how food and wine enhance the flavors in one another as you work your way through seven courses. See their website for more details or call the restaurant for tickets at 215-721-4000.

Look for the Collectible Postcard
Keep an eye out for the 2010 Souderton Holiday Parade postcard.
They will be mailed to past participants, Indian Valley Chamber Members and distributed through out the community.
This year, the card is based on a photo submitted by Gwen Cukierski.
It captures this year's theme of "Classic Towns, Classic Christmas" with a shot of a young girl watching the Big Red Band marching past Main Street Java's windows.
The graphic design of the postcards was donated by Josh Zeigler of JCZ Design.
He is a new member of the Promotions Committee and he fits in well with all the other hard-working, fun-loving volunteers.
Special thanks to our 2010 Parade and Holiday Fun Sponsors, Almac and QNB.

 | An Annual Sleep Out
|
| | Hosted by Keystone Opportunity
Keystone Opportunity Center has a fund-raiser coming up in November that does a wonderful job of reminding us why their mission to help homeless families is so important.
On November 13, they will hold their annual Rally and Sleep Out. They will Rally at the intersection of Main and Broad Streets in Souderton to raise awareness of the passing public.
During the Sleep Out later that evening, ffamilies and small groups will create their own cardboard shelters, something many homeless city dwellers use each night to protect themselves from the elements.
While this tactic is not something common in the upper Bucks and Montgomery area, the presence of homeless in the local communities is becoming more prevalent. See how you can participate or help at their website. |
