E-Update Souderton Telford Main Streets
Dear Reader,The best part of all the snow we had this past Winter- it makes Spring that much sweeter. We have new businesses opening as fast as the blossoms. We are keeping Souderton Mayor John Reynolds busy. A few more need to open in Telford to catch up! To stay in the gardening mode: some seeds take longer to germinate than others. After over two years of hard work behind the scenes, renovations on the Broad Theater will begin this spring. We finally managed to pull funds from Harrisburg to create a local revolving loan fund to assist this project to start. As the funds are paid back, Souderton Telford Main Streets will have a local revolving loan fund to help other business projects. This is exciting on so many levels! Stay tuned to this email, Facebook and our website for details as they become available for both the Theater and the loan fund. Now we do paperwork for a few weeks.
You know we will be working with the Broad Entertainment Group to create as much excitement as possible! Watch the Souderton Independent as they cover the ribbon cuttings at all the new businesses in town. They have been really great about covering all the excitement.

The Caboose Grill is Re-Opening for Dinner!
Chef Randy Rosenberger is Back
The Caboose Grille is open for dinners on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights from 5 pm to 8:30 pm. Chef Randy Rosenberger was with the Caboose several years ago and his quality and specials were amazing. owner, Jen Joseph, is so excited to have him back on board, just in time for outdoor dining season. So make a reservation and celebrate Spring at the Souderton Train Station. STMS and the Borough are pursuing the funds to redo the Souderton Train Station and nearby rail buildings in the same fashion as the Telford Train Station. Just another one of our ongoing projects. We want to renovate the station and upgrade HVAC and other systems that SEPTA has ignored for years. Jen and the Caboose Grille deserve better surroundings.

One Man Can Make A Huge Difference
A Proactive Property Owner
Rich D'Amico is a man with a vision. He purchased a building in downtown Souderton because he could see the positive changes coming. He rehabbed the apartments upstairs and put his business below. He enabled a new business to get a start in the small space on the first floor.
Then he watched the streetscape work transform the "Hollow." New businesses joined him in the former empty factory buildings. More foot traffic started to appear.
He took advantage of the STMS Design Challenge Grants to create a whole new look to his building using paint. When a new, larger salon was looking for a new location, Rich saw an opportunity to right-size his Consign for Design shop to focus on his more loyal customers and the products that they most wanted.
Rich was patient and now he is seeing his investment in downtown Souderton paying him back. He has set a good example of how wise investments in improvements in a downtown property and understanding one's customers' needs can pay off in a big way.
Hat's off to Rich D'Amico and Consign for Design on being proactive for a positive change. We are happy to see him open again!

Another New Business!

Chrysalis Hair Design
Kim Staropolis, Kevin Kreibel & Kristen Barndt
 | "Sometimes things happen for a reason." That was the conclusion new shop owner, Kim Staropoli, made after she explained how so many people in Souderton helped her and her partner, Kevin Kreibel, to open their own shop in Souderton. When Niva Salon closed its doors this winter, it open the door for Kim and Kevin to get serious about creating their own salon. Duane Reinford, of Duane's Hair Salon, served as a mentor. He shared his salon space with them until they could open their own shop this week. He refered them to Rich D'Amico. Rich D'Amico listened to their needs and offered his larger space to accommodate their needs and facilitated their work to renovate the former retail shop into a salon. Chrysalis Hair Design opened on Tuesday, April 6 at 118 Main Street in Souderton. They are a full-service salon offering hair services, waxing, make up and wedding parties. The phone number for the salon is 267-203-8099. Call to make an appointment or just stop by to say hi!

Love Those Photos with the Ribbon
Last Week's Ribbon Cutting
The photo in the Souderton Independent last week was even better.
After we snapped the action photo of Dave cutting the ribbon, everyone started laughing. That's when the professional photographer snapped a great shot.
They even noted in the caption that the Broad Street Pizzeria is doing a grand opening special of 50% off on salads, sandwiches and slices for 21 days. See their website for details.

Is Your Business on the List?
It's Free!
One of our spring projects is the creation of Google maps with different categories. Bob Brecker has already started the restaurant map. It is missing several restaurants because he was using our online business guide to find the information he needed. Check to make sure your business is listed. You also want to make sure the Google listing for your business is up-to-date and accurate. We will be using both sources for the data to market our communities. It's free. Why would you want to miss these opportunities to drive traffic to your business? Call the STMS office if you need help.

Get Counted!
A note from the Governor
Nationwide, more than $400 billion in federal funds is distributed to communities each year based on Census data. If any Pennsylvania residents are missed in the count, our state risks losing out on its fair share of federal funding - not just next year, but every year until the 2020 Census.
The state could also lose political representation on the national level if our population is undercounted. Read the press release.
Check out how you and your neighbors are compare on returning their census data at this cool site.
