Dear Reader,

We have a full load of events, news and excitement for you. This email just kept growing.

Since we have a full collection of stories in this email, I will give you a hint of what we are working on for later in March.

We have some new faces over at the Reliance Inn. Two new eateries will be featured from Broad Street in Souderton. The Telford Train Station has a new restaurant featuring a new menu and some favorites from Assou's. We always eat well in Souderton and Telford.

I will try to get articles about all these on the website and in this newsletter. For now, enjoy the variety of articles below.

Sincerely,

Pam Coleman

Senate Passes Jobs Bill
Senate Passes Jobs Bill; Includes Hiring Incentives, Expensing Extension

Brought to you by: CBIZ, Inc.& MCEDC

Confronted with stubbornly high unemployment numbers and a slow economic recovery, the Senate on February 24 voted 70 to 28 to pass a $15 billion jobs bill, the Hiring Incentives to Restore Employment (HIRE) Act, H.R.2847. The HIRE Act provides a new tax incentive for hiring and retaining workers, along with a one-year extension of enhanced Code Sec. 179 expensing and changes to Build America Bonds. The HIRE Act is partially offset by a package of new foreign account tax compliance rules. The HIRE Act does not include extenders, COBRA premium assistance or an estate tax extension.

This Year's Musical at the Montgomery Theater

Bee There!
BeeUsually the annual musical at the Montgomery Theater happens much later in the season.

This year, The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee is the musical you don't want to miss.

Assembled on stage is the most eccentric and lovable group of spelling geeks that you'll ever meet. Six wacky misfits with steely ambition strive to define themselves apart from their crazy families as they confront the pitfalls of puberty. And just to keep this motley crew on the path to spelling stardom, there's a previous spelling bee winner, a vice principal with a questionable past and a parolee doing his community service.

This hilarious Tony Award winning musical comedy celebrates the mania of competition as the funniest, most lovable and sardonically nerdy contestants compete for the Spelling Bee title!

Their online ticketing makes life so easy, you have no excuse not to attend!

Don't miss their new blog to learn more about the behind the scenes at the Theater. It's called Montgomery Theater Blah Blah Blog!

Kudos to Main Street Java

They Did It Right!
Main St. Java Sign
During the multiple snow storms last month, Heidi Corbett kept their customers updated on when the Cafe would be open using Facebook.

She also does a great job of keeping their loyal customers up-to-date on who is playing on Friday nights. Judging from the comments on Facebook, their customers appreciate her hard work.

Kevin High will be performing this Friday at Main Street Java from 7 to 9 pm. Live music on Friday nights in downtown Souderton. Acoustic driven creatively performed covers by Kevin High, with frequent sightings by the siblings: Steve "the bub", and Karen "Yerkie".
Observations about our Facebook page

Who knew?
VCP snow
Our Facebook page for Souderton Telford Main Streets has 325 fans.

During the snow storms, we had fans who posted photos of the storm as it happened.

It was fun to read the comments from fans from Florida as they talked about their memories of growing up in town. I never imagined people from out-of-state following our page. It was really cool.

As I sat in my home in the Lehigh Valley, it was great to see what the conditions were in Souderton and to read the comments. The Facebook page keeps growing in directions we did not expect. The fans are really giving it life.

Here is a photo that Bob Brecker posted from one of the storms. The thumbnail does not due it justice. Go to our page to see it in the fan photos.

Our next email blast will feature a really cool project Bob is working on with Google maps. Keep an eye out for it.
Facebook  Souderton Telford Main Streets is now on Facebook.  Watch for daily posts about a variety of local interest news. Post your comments or photos.

We now have a page for the Indian Valley Farmers' Market.
