Library Update
As we worked on producing this email blast, the Indian Valley Public Library's email arrived. It is as large as this one with great programming.

We don't have room to put all the interesting projects they are doing, so we encourage you to check out their website or our linked calendar for activities.

Classic Towns of Greater Philadelphia!
It is official! We are now a designated Classic Town of Greater Philadelphia!  Check out the website that will be promoting Souderton and Telford to people interested in moving to our region!

We attended an official ceremony last night at the Chemical Heritage Foundation in Philadelphia last evening and came home with loads of goodies. Watch as the new Classic Towns logo starts appearing in various places around town.
CTGP 09 ceremony-breckers
Bob and Jamie Brecker joined the party in Philly.  Bob is a member of the Promotion Committee. As new parents, they made a nice evening out with dinner afterward in town and a relaxing ride home.

grand prix 09Souderton Independent Reporter, Brendan Purves, came to the ceremony in Philadelphia to cover the ceremony. Here he is interviewing the DVRPC project managers, Karen Cilurso and Alison Hastings, about the Classic Towns of Greater Philadelphia program. He is planning an article in next week's Souderton Independent.

Indian Valley Farmers' Market News
Only three more markets left to the season. Don't miss your chance to pick up fresh cider and apples, decorative gourds and indian corn and don't forget mums, wine, coffee, jewelry and baked goods. Oh, yes, we also have fresh fruit and produce.

This Saturday, come for the Karate demonstration by Mark Cashatt's karate school.

Fire safety week 09The following week, we will be celebrating Fire Safety Week with the Telford Fire Department and friends.

Finally, the season will close out on October 17 with live alpacas and wool products.
Business Expo Booth
Souderton Telford Main Streets will once again have a booth at this incredibly popular event. We invite everyone to stop by to pick up a postcard for the Souderton Holiday Parade and a Main Street Toolkit. Learn how we are working to improve the quality of life for both businesses and residents in the two boroughs.

STMS volunteers are asked to plan to work the booth for an hour or so.  Email Erika to schedule a time you are willing to talk about your contribution to the revitalization of Souderton and Telford.

Must Watch Television
Last week,  Main Street manager, Pam Coleman, and Board member and Souderton Borough Councilman, Jeff Gross, attended a viewing and discussion of a documentary at the WHYY studios in Philadelphia.

The New Metropolis Series includes two half hour films, "A Crack in the Pavement, Rebuilding America's First Suburbs" and "The New Neighbors, How One Town Created a Vibrant, Integrated Suburb." Levitown

The first explained the growth of first suburbs outside the cities and their current challenges with infrastructures. The second followed a community that made racial integration the centerpiece of revitalizing Pennsauken, NJ.

Pam and Jeff had the opportunity to meet the film maker, volunteers from Pennsauken and community leaders from the Philadelphia region and to discuss how these issues affect our communities. The films did a good job of taking complex regional issues and illustrating them in a personal fashion. The discussion afterward were very good.

You have an opportunity to watch these films for yourself on WHYY TV on October 8 at        9 pm.

For additional broadcast information, go to www.whyy.org or the www.the new metropolis.com.

We also have a DVD of the films the Main Street office.
