The Big Question of the Week
fast car

The light at the intersection of Main Street/Route 113 and Reliance Road is complete and ready to go.  The Borough is waiting for PennDOT to come out to inspect it and give their approval.

If we can finagle it, STMS will hold a ribbon cutting/grand lighting ceremony to celebrate the activation of the light.

There are many elements that need to come together to make that happen; a date for the inspectors, scheduling local officials and fitting it into the photographers' schedules. We'll do our best to make the ceremony happen!
Congressman Dent is Visiting
Con. Dent
On Wednesday, April 15, Congressman Charlie Dent will be holding a public office hour at the Souderton Borough Hall from 11 am to noon.

All constituents are welcome to stop by to visit with the Congressman who represents Souderton and Telford at that time. You are encouraged to sit with the Congressman and exchange thoughts and concerns with him.
Business Roundtable Heading to Melodia Grill on April 14
silverware
In an unusual Monday Roundtable luncheon, we will be heading up to Melodia Grill on Monday, April 13 at 12:30 pm. If you RSVP to Erika by Friday, she will call and remind you Monday morning so you do not forget!

Owner, Sequon Lan says that she has been changing the lunch menu and can't wait to share her new items and prices with you. Since everyone loves the food at Melodia Grill, I am sure no one will be disappointed!

Now that the weather has been getting nicer, the attendance at the Roundtable will be increasing. Don't miss this chance to network in a casual setting with other business people from Souderton and Telford. We will be talking about a Shop Local campaign idea and other topics that are applicable to your everyday business!
Live Music Tonight At Main Street Java
guitarFriday, April 3rd
7:00-9:00pm
"James Lauchmen"

Come hear this local musician who will entertain you with a variety of old favorites. He performs an assortment of music including cover pieces by: James Taylor, Tom Petty, The Eagles, Eric Clapton, Cat Stevens and many more!

****NOTE: Change of Date...Jim will be playing tonight rather than the 2nd Friday of the month****

In case you haven't heard, Main Street Java is now having LIVE entertainment every Friday night! If you're looking for something fun to do on this rainy Friday come on out to hear a great musician and have a LOT of fun in the process!

Next Friday, April 10th they will take a break in the music schedule in honor of Easter weekend but will resume on Friday, April 17th.  Please check their website frequently to find the current music schedule as they will be updating it regularly.
The Broad Theater Is Progressing
Assou's exterior
If you read the Souderton Independent last week or the Reporter this week, you read a good summary of the project by Megan Blank.  Megan did a nice job of describing what we will see in the theater and the restaurants.

The Main Street staff has been involved for the past year as we assembled the Anchor Building Grant application for this project.  The Anchor Building Grant is a Main Street grant that is 30% of the project cost, up to $500,000. The funds are loaned to the Anchor Building project as a bridge loan. As the loan is paid back, it becomes a local revolving loan fund for future revitalization projects.

We hope to hear in the next few weeks whether Souderton-Telford Main Streets has been awarded this grant.  DCED is working hard to keep projects moving forward with a diminished budget.

The Broad Entertainment Group is scheduled to go before Borough Council at the May 4th meeting.
We are So Proud of the IV Public Library!
reading girl
The Indian Valley Public Library in Telford was recently recognized by their peers!  The Pennsylvania Library Association (PaLA) has honored 22 of Pennsylvania's 474 public libraries with Best Practices Awards for programming and services to children under the age of six, their families, and caregivers.

The Indian Valley Public Library was recognized for their Truck Zoo. Construction companies, rescue crews and independent truckers all brought their trucks to the library parking lot. Families toured the trucks, talked with firemen, and inside the library, books about trucks flew off the shelves.

What an outstanding example of the local cooperation that is so much a part of our community fabric.  Congratulations!

Are you on Google Maps?

At the recent National Main Street Conference, Google had representatives there to talk about how Main Street communities could benefit from Google Maps.

If you have a listing on the Souderton-Telford Main Street website, you know that visitors can click on a Google map link to see where your business is located.

Google Maps offers you the opportunity to do a custom business listing directly on their map!

To make it easy, they created a video on the YouTube  and a website with instructions that walk you through creating your free listing. When potential customers are looking on their phone or computer for directions to your business, they will get so much more. And it is all FREE!
Thank you for reading through all the news. This time of year we always have so many events, activities and opportunities that we need to share. As I worked on this today, three emails came in with news that I included above. Now that is fresh news!

Please keep sending us information for the next E-Update tentatively scheduled for the week of April 20. We also post the larger items on the website.

Let us know how you like the new look. It is still evolving.
