We have plenty of news to use in July.

The July Business Roundtable will be held at Assou's Bistro at the Telford Train Station.

We are still working our way through the new restaurants in the boroughs. Assou's Bistro offers wonderful outdoor seating for our summer luncheon. His food is outstanding and Assou is entertaining as he talks to everyone.

Mark your calendars for Tuesday, July 8 at 12:30 at Assou's Bistro in Telford. Please RSVP to the Main Streets office so we know how many tables and chairs to reserve. The lunch crowd can be large so we want to make sure we have enough tables.

  • Final Paving, Striping and Block Work
  • The new parking lot on Main Street in Souderton will be closed from July 2 through July 14 for final paving and detail work.

While it is closed, the Borough forces will complete the parking lot entrance with the streetscape design of granite block pavers and asphalt pavers. The granite pavers are set in a bed of concrete which must cure for a week prior to withstand vehicular traffic.

We know this will be an inconvenience to the business community, but this will be the quickest and best way to finally complete this project!

  • Volunteers Needed
  • Souderton-Telford Main Streets has a summer intern, Rudy Flores, working on a Parking Management Study. He is coming up from Philadelphia to work on this project. Consequently, he needs some local volunteers to help with counting vehicles in parking lots.

If you know of any students looking for community service hours, we can put them to good use, learning a lot about the town in the process. Contact the STMS office for more details.

  • Grab the Market Basket!
  • The 7th annual Indian Valley Farmers' Market will open on Saturday, July 5 from 8:30 am until 12:30 pm. This year's lineup includes two familiar farmers and a new farmer plus three bakers. Learn more at www.ivfm.org.

To celebrate the Opening Day, musical entertainment will be provided by The Happy Ranchers! This group will play toe-tapping music to get everyone in the mood to celebrate the market's opening.

The Happy Ranchers are sponsored by Sitecats web design! Owner, John Ralston, is also the chair of the hardworking Promotions Committee and the webmaster for STMS!

  • Field to the Table Food Festival
  • If you love to eat good food, make sure you plan to attend the Field to the Table Food Festival at the Indian Valley Farmers' Market on Saturday, July 12 from 10 am to 4 pm. We have farmers', bakers, restaurants and many surprises planned.

Last year, everyone ran out of food by 3 pm. This year everyone is loading up even more great food to see if we can keep it going until 4! And don't worry about melting in the heat. NY Life is providing a hospitality tent for dining in the shade!

    Learn more at www.ivfm.org.

  • River to River Bike Ride
  • Once again, it is time to register for the River to River Bike Ride to be held on Saturday, July 26.

Choose your distance on this figure eight route through scenic Bucks County in the morning and pastoral Montgomery County in the afternoon.

The event starts at the Penn Valley Church in Telford and proceeds benefit the Heritage Conservancy.

  • Advertising opportunity
  • Heritage Conservancy has developed an events calendar of happenings along the Route 113 Heritage Corridor in 2008. They are working with a place mat printer to make the calendar easily accessible to the public, and trying to finish it in time for the Bike Ride.

A limited number of sponsor-advertising space is available. Welcome Mat has agreed to print 10,000 place mats with the corridor map and event calendar in advance of the River to River Bike Tour if we can help line up 14 sponsors.

Call June McIlhenny at 215-654-9017 for details. Souderton-Telford Main Streets is an active participant in the Route 113 Heritage Corridor Initiative.

  • Java Rocks!
  • On Saturday, July 26th.....JAVA ON THE ROCKS!

Main Street Java is planning an all day music festival at their location on Main Street in Souderton. Be sure to check the website for details in the coming weeks.

  • Walk or Run to Souderton Memorial Park
  • Moyer Indoor | Outdoor 5K Race, Kids Run & Fitness Walk will be held on Wednesday, July 9 from 6:30 to 9pm. Learn everything you need to know at the race webpage.

  • Zwingli Fire
  • Two local residents captured the complex feelings that the fire has evoked. See their comments and photos at the Souderton-Telford Main Streets website.
