In recognition of his many years of service
to the Borough of Souderton, Congressman
Charles Dent will salute retiring Mayor
Charles Allebach on Tuesday, January 30, 2007
sometime between 10 am and 11:30 am on CSPAN.
By recognizing the Mayor on the House floor,
Congressman Dent’s speech will become part of
the official Congressional record. Future
generations will be able read about Mayor
Allebach’s remarkable service record by
searching key words in the Congressional Record.
Locally, the Mayor and his friends will watch
the live broadcast on CSPAN on the large
screen television at the Indian Valley Senior
Adult Activity Center (SAAC.) Everyone is
invited to join Mayor Allebach to watch this
historic 55-second event. The staff at SAAC
will provide light refreshments.
Charlie Allebach knows what is happening and
he is very excited. Come over and join in
this historic event. Tell your friends,
family and colleagues to stop by SAAC or tune
in on www.cspan.org.
Congressman Dent’s staff has estimated the
time for the speech but the exact time will
be determined by the many other activities
the House will be handling that morning.
Consequently, they can only predict that the
speech will happen sometime between 10 am and
11:30 am.
We are going to try to capture the speech on
Youtube and link it to www.stmainst.org.
Anyone with experience on capturing video is
encouraged to back up our efforts by doing
the same thing. This is the first time we
have tried this process and it would be nice
to have support.
Charlie Allebach has been such an influential
force in our community. It is great to know
that his service will be immortalized in the
Congressional Record. How can we not make a
fun event out of this?
