10/24- "Living Well Without Driving: A Community Approach to Senior Mobility"
Presenters: Dwight Mengel and Ray Weaver
A local coalition of mobility service providers and human service agencies are working together to re-invent mobility choices for seniors and the general public. The power of information technology and the strength of community support are needed to create efficient, consumer-oriented, financially sustainable solutions to the transportation needs of seniors and their families. This workshop will examine our evolving mobility choices, services, and strategies, and elicit participants' perspectives on how our community can move ahead to improve mobility services in the community and promote lifelong safety.
10/31- "Evolving Health Care Models to Minimize Polypharmacy and Medication Errors in Aging Adults"
Presenters: Robert Wahler, Pharm.D. and Scott V. Monte, Pharm.D.
Robert Wahler will review high-risk medication opportunities and present strategies to avoid polypharmacy and adverse events in aging adults. Scott Monte will provide an overview of past, present, and future projects that focus on integrating the medical and pharmacy communities with technology to serve the unique needs of the aging.
11/14- "Aging with Disabilities and Quality of Life"
Presenters: Pat Montanez and Edina Williams-Batar

Annual Conference Cancelled
We regret we have had to cancel our Oct. 4th conference. In spite of a great line-up of speakers, a timely topic, supportive sponsors, and more promotion than in prior years, fewer than half the number of people registered than were needed in order to hold "From Silos to Systems: New Health Care Models for Older People."
All registrations will be refunded. If you have questions, please contact Kelly Rafferty in the Office of Extended Studies, at (607) 274-3143.
Please be assured that the Gerontology Institute remains committed to its role as a local and regional leader that provides learning opportunities for people working with older adults.
