Explore a variety of binding options, and learn to create three structures: concertina, Japanese stab binding, and drum binding.

Art, Physics and Fields
Part 1: Special Theory of Relativity
with Clare Puskarczyk

Leonard Shlain, author of the book Art & Physics, writes, "Integrating art and physics will kindle a more synthesized awareness which begins in wonder and ends with wisdom." Discover how the Impressionists and other early Modern artists intuited and demonstrated scientific concepts in their paintings decades before Einstein's theories described them. After viewing presentations of historical art and scientific information, students will quickly express their spontaneous responses-through drawing, painting, or collage-twice during each class session. The creation of a classroom resonant field will be explored, expressed primarily through our intuitive and spontaneous artwork.

We will focus on building layers in prints by using multiple plates, transparency, color and composition to develop images with a personal creative style.
