Wine Academy: New Class & Next Level
With two sold-out Wine Academy classes thus far, we have confirmed Chicago is thirsting for more wine knowledge. So, we are happy to present the next level of The Wine Academy at The Chopping Block: Level Two: The Regions.
While Level One was all about viticulture, vinification techniques, and varying styles of wine, Level Two focuses on the world's most renowned wine regions of reckoning. The six-week class series will culminate in an exam (followed by a class party!), and each student will receive a certificate of completion and merit.
Week One: France
Week Two: Italy
Week Three: Spain/Portugal
Week Four: Germany/Austria
Week Five: USA
Week Six: Chile/Argentina
Week Seven: Australia/New Zealand/South Africa
Week Eight: Exam/Bring Your Favorite Bottle Party!
Level Two classes will be held on Sundays from 1pm-3:30pm from September 23 - November 11 at the Merchandise Mart.

Need to start with the basics? Level One is an in depth, six-week course which provides a solid understanding of wine fundamentals. Our next session will be held on Wednesdays from 6:30pm - 7:30pm at the Merchandise Mart from October 3 - November 14 (excluding October 31).

Meet a Pioneer of Women Winemakers
Fiddlehead Cellars is home to some of the west coast's most critically acclaimed Pinot Noir and Sauvignon Blanc. Spend an evening with Kathy Joseph, a pioneer among women winemakers and Evanston native. She'll taste you through her current, six-wine line-up from Santa Barbara and the Willamette Valley. You'll even get to try her cellar-select, prestige Pinot, the "Lollapalooza", a nod to the weekend's festival shenanigans in Chicago.
