The Laughlin Center, celebrating 115 years of service to children and families of the region, is hosting an open house to showcase their recent renovation! Join the governing board and staff at 2:30 pm for a ribbon-cutting ceremony featuring Mayor Brian Jeffe, Child Health Assiciation president Elisa DiTommaso, St. Stephens' Rev. Geoff Chapman, and the Sewickley Valley Historical Society's Harton Semple. Refreshments and tours of the campus will be available until 5:00 pm. Please RSVP by calling 412.741.4087.

Join Yarns Unlimited on Friday for Needle Night, an evening of refreshments and organization!
Bring in your baskets, plastics totes and ziplock bags that pass for your needle storage and get things under control. Everyone who attends will receive a needle inventory card. Fern Hollow Nature Center's Alfresco Italian Garden Dinner is 6 p.m. Aug. 24, will include bruschetta with gorgonzola and Fern Hollow honey, chicken with lemon and rosemary, a pasta station, homemade gelato, limoncello and many other Italian favorites, with BYOB permitted. Elan Fine Art Gallery presents "Local Colors," a collection of bright watercolor paintings by local artist Ron Thurston.
Ron is one of our area's premier watercolor painters and is a signature member of the American Watercolor Society and a past president of the Pittsburgh Watercolor Society. "The spontaneity of watercolor has become my passion."
The exhibition ends Saturday, August 25th.

Fancy's Folly Re-Opening September 6
Fancy's Folly is re-opening again in the Sewickley Village on Thursday, September 6th at 427 Broad Street.
The store's re-opening will feature a special trunk show of the Lex&Lynne jewelry collection (www.lexandlynne.com) as well as fabulous new "finds" for fall and the addition of several new lines not currently available anywhere in Pittsburgh!
Fancy's Folly is also excited to announce that it will continue its tradition of charitable giving on behalf of customers through "Shop for a Cause," donating 10% of all gross sales over $100 to The Child Health Association of Sewickley, from September 22nd through October 6th.

From 10:00 am to 5:00 pm on Saturday, September 8, Booths of vendors and food will be set up on Broad and Thorn Streets to celebrate the 22nd Annual Harvest Festival!
In addition to Broad and Thorn Streets, booths will be set up in the parking lot behind Talbot's building. Child safety activities, sponsored by the Sewickley Police Dept. Crime Prevention Program, will take place in front of the Municipal Building, and Cochran Hose Company will have an Open House at the Fire Department.
