What a great time of year to live in or visit Sewickley!  This newsletter is so full of things to do this week that we have skipped the pictures.  We hope you will participate in many of these activities and events and support the local shops and restaurants while you are here.  Please forward this newsletter to family, friends and co-workers to help spread the word about Sewickley.

Race to Nowhere Screenings at Sewickley Public Library

The Sewickley Public Library is pleased to announce two showings of Race to Nowhere, an award-winning documentary that addresses the realities of today's obsession with achievement, and how that obsession is directly impacting our children.

Tournesol: Grand Opening Ribbon Cutting

Please join Mayor Brian Jeffe for a ribbon cutting ceremony to welcome Tournesol to Sewickley.  Tournesol offers fine table linens, distinctive dinnerware and gifts for the home from around the world. Owner Barbara Reilly searches for items not only for their beauty and style, but also for the traditions, quality and authenticity that is preserved... items that reflect the cultures of the world, what we continue to make, what we value, how we make a home for our friends and family to gather, to share, to celebrate our lives.

47th Annual May Mart

Sponsored by Sewickley Civic Garden Council, this Sewickley tradition features plants and garden accessories supplied by local garden clubs and vendors. Some of the items available for sale include herbs, zinnias, begonias, scented geraniums, petunias, shade and sun groupings, deer-resistant plants and mixed variety "salad bowls." Saturday, May 19th, 10:00 am - 5:00 pm

Don't miss out on this great event with a bigger and better pet parade this year.  Visit www.sewickleyunleashed.org to register your pet for a $5 fee.  The fee will be $10 on the day of the parade.  All proceeds will benefit the Western PA Humane Society.  The Presenting sponsor is  100.7 Star Pittsburgh, with Zack Williams broadcasting live from noon to 5:00pm. Over 40 vendors will be located in the Green Street parking from 10:00 am - 5:00 pm.  Please visit the website for more details. Flag Retirement Ceremony and Fireworks in the Village

A variety of activities are available in the Village for Memorial Day weekend starting with a Flag Retirement Ceremony at 6:00 pm, Patriotic Music at 7:30 pm and a fireworks show viewable from the Village at 9:00 pm.

121st Annual Memorial Day Parade

Bring the whole family for a day of fun in Sewickley. The parade will be followed by programs at Wolcott Park and the Sewickely Cemetery.

 

June 2nd, 3:00 pm - 6:00 pm

1st Annual Amazing Race

Get your team together and join Fern Hollow Nature Center for the 1st Annual Amazing Parks Race. The race, which is similar to the Amazing Race on TV, will highlight eight of the beautiful parks in the Quaker Valley area. Please click here for details on the race and how to enter.
