Ms. Bridgett sings songs, reads stories, and sometimes bakes blueberry muffins during this fabulous weekly story time. It's best for kids ages 3-5. Don't forget to pack a lunch! 

 

Wednesday, March 21st, 6:00pm - 9:00pm

The pulse of an artist's life is perceived through their work. The forces and experiences of life make their imprint, bending the energy in response, hopefully making the center of the artist stronger as a person and a painter. Public reception to meet the artist, Maria Napoli.

Enjoy a surprise flight of new wines at the Naked Grape!  Join us and be some of the first guests to sample these great wines as Phil shares fun facts on each!  $35 per person (Includes taste plate of specially paired food).

Two showings of "Race to Nowhere", an award-winning documentary that addresses the realities of today's obsession with achievement. The approximately 1 hour-long film will be followed by brief discussion.

Saturday, March 24th, 12:00pm - 2:00pm
The Sewickley Valley YMCA's Large Pool will be filled with colorful Easter eggs for kids to collect.  Collect eggs in the Large Pool and exchange them for fun prizes from 12:00pm -1:00pm. Afterwards, enjoy painting a paper mache egg from 1:00pm -2:00pm while enjoying a light snack. For your child's safety, children under 9 years of age or non-swimmers must be accompanied by an adult in the water.

 

Saturday, March 24th, 4:00pm - 7:00pm

Enjoy a night of dining at the Naked Grape Enoteca!  For this evening only, we will offer an expanded menu featuring some of your favorite Naked Grape dishes & some fun, new twists!  Pre-order wine and enjoy an entire food & wine experience!  Reservations recommended but walk-ins welcome!  For reservations or more information: 412-741-6420.

 

Tuesday, March 27th, 6:30pm - 9:30pm

Take a break from the busy world and come to Sweetwater for a girls' night out for Naturally Dyed Easter Eggs. If you're hunting for a creative way to dye Easter eggs this year, the answer may be right in your kitchen!  Join us as we learn how to naturally color and decorate eggs using eco-friendly ingredients like red cabbage, onion skins, cranberries, spices and herbs. In addition to learning all the steps to dying eggs, you'll also learn how to add interesting textures using cheese cloth, leaves to add stencils, and scratching techniques. Each participant will be able to dye and take home a variety of unique eggs and will receive directions to experiment with more at home. Tuition is $30 for members and $45 for non-members. All materials are provided; materials fee is included in the tuition. Students must be 21 and older. In Other News

 

The 1st Annual Sewickley Soup Crawl on Saturday, March 17th was a major success!  Thanks to the over 250 people who purchased tickets and tasted the soups.  16 local restaurants participated by making soup which was served in 16 local stores.  Participants voted for their favorite soup which will be given the "Golden Ladle Award" for Best Soup of Sewickley.  There was also the Sewickley's Best Souper Contest which had 13 participants.  The event raised over $3,000 in money, gift cards and canned goods for the Sewickley Community Center Food Pantry. 

 

The restaurant and soup pairings were:

  • East Coast Sandwiches with Stuffed Pepper Soup at Spoiled Chics
  • Half Nych Hot Dogs with Grandma Nych's Almost Famous Chicken Soup at Penguin Bookshop
  • Little Athens with Avgolemono Traditional Lemon Soup at Perfect Boutique
  • Marino's Italian Kitchen with Pasta Fagioli at Sewickley Gallery and Frame Shop
  • Mike's Place with Tommi's Wedding Soup at The Jewel Thief
  • Pizza Roma with New England Clam Chowder at House of Two Sisters
  • Sewickley Hotel with Chicken and Pastina Soup at Antiquarian Shop
  • Sharp Edge Bistro with Guinness Stew at Orr's Jewelers
  • Sweetwater Grille with Cajun Turtle Soup at Village Candy
  • The Ultimate Pastry Shop with Irish Corned Beef & Potato Soup at Rosewood
  • Vivo Kitchen with Butternut Squash & Apple Soup at House 15143

The winner of the 1st Annual "Golden Ladle Award" for Best Soup of Sewickley goes to Cafe des Amis for their Sweet Potato Chorizo.  If you missed it on Saturday, you will find it on the menu from time to time.  Cafe des Amis will receive an engraved plaque with a golden ladle to hang in the restaurant.

 

The winners of the Best Sewickley Souper Contest were:

  • 1st Place - Darryl - Wild Mushroom Florentine - Prize was a 7 1/4 Le Creuset soup pot
  • 2nd Place - Jenna Componovo - Cold Cucumber Soup - Prize was a tablecloth and napkins from the new Sewickley store, Tournesol
  • 3rd Place - Ken Fishter - Seafood Stew - Prize was a $50 gift certificate to the Naked Grape

The raffle winners were:

  • Sharp Edge Basket - Brian McCarthy
  • Naked Grape Gift Certificate - Marissa Kusma
