Cèilidh Weekend Debuts  

Cèilidh (pronounced kay-lee) Weekend combines the CMU traditions of Homecoming, Family Weekend and the International Festival. The weekend activities range from today's all-campus BBQ to alumni lectures and awards, the president's address and the football game.

Inspire Innovation Campaign Update 

As of Oct. 15, 2011, Carnegie Mellon's Inspire Innovation campaign had reached $955.8 million toward the $1 billion goal. Since Sept. 7, 2011, the campaign raised $5,819,784.

Benefits Open Enrollment Runs Oct. 31-Nov. 14 

During this two-week period, employees can use HR Connection to review their benefit options and rates, and make their elections for 2012. If you don't actively make new elections, many of your 2011 benefits will carry over to 2012. However, active enrollment is required to participate in the Health Care and/or Dependent Care Spending Accounts for 2012.

 

Questions? Staff Council is hosting an encore presentation of its Benefits Open Forum, noon - 1 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 1 in McConomy Auditorium.

PSO Hosts CMU Night, Friday, Nov. 4 at Heinz Hall  

Faculty, staff, students and their guests can purchase tickets online starting at $15. CFA students can purchase tickets for as low as $10. A dessert reception for the CMU community, hosted by President Jared L. Cohon, follows the concert.

Light Shows To Debut on Pausch Bridge Tonight 

Four lighting designs for the Randy Pausch Bridge, created by student teams in a "light as art" class, and one design created by School of Computer Science Dean Randal E. Bryant will premiere at 7:30 p.m. today (Thursday, Oct. 27) as part of  Cèilidh Weekend.  

 

"The student shows embody the spirit of Randy Pausch in exploring unkown territory, taking risks and creating a dynamic experience for the campus community," said Cindy Limauro, professor of lighting design in the School of Drama.

Miller Gallery, STUDIO Publish Book Sprint   

The Miller Gallery and the STUDIO for Creative Inquiry have co-published "New Art/Science Affinities," a 190-page book on contemporary artists that was written and designed in one week by four authors and two designers.

Tartans Aim for 500th All-Time Football Victory   

Carnegie Mellon's football team will be gunning for its 500th all-time victory Saturday when the Tartans host Washington University (Mo.) at noon at Gesling Stadium. The Tartans are in their 102nd football season with a 499-363-28 overall record.
