Doesn't anybody stay in one place any more?

Our new office building!

Exciting news! Due to our desperate need for more space,  we are moving to larger offices, our new address, located near the intersection

of Hwy. 217 & I-5, off of 72nd Avenue at 7110 SW Fir Loop Dr., Portland. The new space will better accommodate the growth we have been experiencing over the past couple of years.

We are also, in conjunction with the move to our new offices, changing over from The H Group platform to the Focus Point Solution platform. (Focus Point Solutions is owned by the same folks as The H Group.) We will be forming our own Registered Investment Advisory Firm, Chuck Jones & Associates, Inc., but Focus Point Solutions will provide the same back office support and Fidelity will remain as Custodian of all assets. Clients will soon be receiving letters detailing these changes.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us at 503-291-1313. Our phone lines remain the same as before.

We look forward to continuing to work with you under our new name and in our new offices!

Building a Financial Future

As the most indebted graduating class in history, it makes sense that most of the class of 2011 will be nervous about paying back their student loans.

However, in a survey released in May of this year from Capital One many of these seniors and recent graduates admitted that they have practiced impulse buying as well as overlooking opportunities to improve their finances. College students overspending and impulse buying is not groundbreaking research, but the apparent differences between gender among students in their approach to their finances can indicate the need for parents and even financial institutions to understand these differences and address them.

Being proactive

The survey data suggest that the male respondents were somewhat more proactive than their female peers. While half the males reported that they put money away into savings on at least a monthly basis, only 40 percent of females could say the same. (more...)

 Happy Father's Day

Being a father can be a wonderful thing, once you get done with all the messy stuff, all the stressful events, the complete loss of privacy, and the incredible numbers of ways you can mess it up.

Every dad has fears that he won't be a great dad, that he'll mess up, that he'll be a failure. It comes with the job.

Unfortunately, what doesn't come with the job is a simple set of instructions. Even if there was, we probably wouldn't read it...as guys, we often will skip the manual, figuring we can wing it ... but when things go wrong, it would be nice to have a manual to go back to.

As a father, and now a grandfather, I found these tips to be a good refresher....
