Jim Rich attended a formational meeting for the Texas Consumer Energy Alliance at Shell's Woodcreek Office in Houston. The organization is being formed to advance energy policies in Texas that ensure stable supply and reasonable prices for energy consumers. The steering committee is made up of energy producers and major consumers including Pioneer Natural Resources, El Paso Gas, Shell, Chevron, Apache Corporation, Caterpillar, ExxonMobil, Dow Chemical, Texas Motor Transport Association, and the Texas Hotel & Lodging Association. CEA will operate as a state-wide organization to ensure broad communication on energy issues. The steering committee will set priorities, areas of focus, and action items. We were invited as a result of our My Town Campaign which has similar objectives.
The Executive Committee met on Tuesday to conduct July business. Ricardo Anawate, Plant Manager, of Gerdau was named as an advisory director. The group also approved officers and division chairs for the next program year starting
October 1.

The Long Range Planning Division chaired by Tim Sudela met on Tuesday to finalize the agenda for the August 6 board planning workshop.
Jim Rich attended the membership luncheon for the Greater Port Arthur Chamber of Commerce which was devoted to the deepening of the Sabine Neches Waterway.
The board of directors and members of the Southeast Texas Economic Development Foundation chaired by Charlie Foxworth met on Thursday for their quarterly meeting. Gene Arnold and Dean Robinson were approved as incoming voting directors. The group affirmed three new SBA small businesses loans packaged by our staff.
The regional economic development professionals met for their monthly REDI meeting at the Nederland EDC. Guests included Judge Jeff Branick, Commissioner Brent Weaver, and Alex Rupp, the interim Airport Manager. There was a wide ranging conversation about commercial air service and plans to attract new service to the airport. Several initiatives will be undertaken to prepare for visits with airlines.

| The U.S. Chamber of Commerce's National Chamber Foundation will host "Hiring Our Heroes - Lake Charles, a hiring fair to conenct veterans and military spouses. More
than 40 employers are expected to participate with jobs available for veterans and military spouses of all ranks and levels of experience. Companies range from America's biggest employers to dozens of small companies from across the state.
Since its launch in March 2011, Hiring Our Heroes has held more than 210 hiring fairs nationwide, helping more than 10,000 veterans and military spouses find employment. This event is also part of "Hiring 500,000 Heroes," a national campaign announced by the U.S. Chamber, National Chamber Foundation, and Capital One, to engage the business community in committing to hire 500,000 veterans and military spouses by the end of 2014.
