We are asking employers to support the Hire Our Heroes Job Fair in Lake Charles on August 7. This event is free for employers and job seekers. The annual Greater Beaumont Chamber of Commerce board of directors planning workshop will be held Monday, August 6, 2012 at the Lamar University Mary and John Gray Library from 11:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. 


This yearly planning workshop brings together board and advisory directors to create a plan of action for the upcoming year. This year's workshop topics will be: 

  • Topic 1: Business Development Week-What we did right, What we need to improve for 2013
  • Topic 2:  The Greater Beaumont Chamber of Commerce Accreditation 2013
  • Topic 3:  Continued efforts for Navigation improvements to Sabine Neches Ship Channel. . . informing and educating
  • Topic 4:  Workforce Readiness-Building the platform...informing and educating

MEMBERSHIP DIVISION 

Dr. Alan B. Coleman, has been elected Mayor Pro Tem of Beaumont, Texas.  Dr. Coleman is serving his third term as the Ward 1 Councilmember.  He has practiced general dentistry in Beaumont for 29 years.  He has been a member of the Chamber of Commerce since 1984.  

Besides his involvement with city governance, Dr. Coleman founded Southeast Texas Hands For God Ministry.  This 501(c)(3) non-profit ministry has traveled within the United States and abroad to provide free dental care to those in need.  The ministry was a 2012 recipient of an Academy of General Dentistry Foundation grant.

 

Dr. Coleman has served on numerous charitable boards.  Last year, he and his wife were honored as the "Family of the Year" by Family Services of Southeast Texas and he is a recipient of the Jefferson Award from the American Institute for Public Service.
