Baby Safety Month

For over 20 years, September has been designated as Baby Safety Month by its sponsor, the Juvenile Products Manufacturers Association (JPMA).

The JPMA chooses a different safety-related topic each year. This year, the topic is the safe use of second-hand, hand-me-down and heirloom baby gear.

Here are some some basic guidelines to make sure you don't sacrifice safety for price

Babyproofing your home

Continuing with the Baby Safety Month theme, here are some

  • Take a "baby's eye" view.
  • Start with the floor.
  • Get the lead out.
  • Secure electrical outlets and cords.
  • Watch the windows.
  • Remove or cover sharp edges.
  • Protect against spills.
  • Use baby gates.
  • Put away "big kids" toys.
