the Minneapolis Synod Office.
The discernment period has concluded and we're ready to begin a new phase in the life and ministry of Prince of Peace. Please keep Pastor Chad and his family in prayer as they move from Pennsylvania to Minnesota and get settled here among their new church family. His first Sunday to preach at Prince of Peace is September 25th.

| 363 Days SANDWICH MAKING FAITH & FAMILY NIGHT - TUESDAY, AUGUST 23 | | |
Our Goal: 1000 Sandwiches!
 We're starting at 5:30 pm on Tuesday, August 23rd with the sandwich assembly line followed by a Faith & Family Night Picnic! Bring your family, your friends, and your hungry bellies for an evening of Food, Fun and Fellowship with members of the Congregation. It will be a great way to reach out to others by making sandwiches for 363 Days during the "dog days of summer!" This truly is an event for everyone to enjoy, so we hope you will join us. Please RSVP to Katie Rykal by Monday, August 22nd!

| I'M IN! | |  Catch the Excitement! We are embarking on a new era, one that will advance our ministry locally and globally. We are preparing to welcome Pastor Chad Brekke shortly, and we have a list of things to accomplish from the Congregational Council and the Special Gifts team before his arrival.
Our goal is to raise $36,000 by the end of September.

AXIS - Begins Sept. 28th
Registration is online for the 2011- 2012 session of Axis. Please let me know if you have questions about registration.
Parents- Natalia, along with church leadership, requests your presence on that first night. Please plan on arriving by 6:15 so we can begin promptly at 6:30. An email will contain the registration link, so contact the church office if your email has changed in the past year or if you are not receiving email communications from me. Women Of Faith And Love Bible Study (WOFAL)

Sat., Sept. 17, 9 am- "Looney Lutherans," A.K.A, The Church Basement Ladies. Three cast members will be here to entertain us with their Lutheran humor. Starts at 9 am with coffee and rolls, 10 am performance. Tickets: $15, on sale in the Welcome Center between services. Tuesday, Oct. 11 - Day Trip Tour stopping at St. Olaf, the Round Barn  B&B, historic stops in Red Wing and dinner at Vasa Lutheran Church.

| "FELLOWSHIP FRIENDS" NEEDED! | | 
A new member orientation will be held in the Welcome Center on Monday, August 22 from 6:30-8:00 p.m.
We expect prospective new members from more than 15 family units to attend. We're excited about their interest in joining in the mission and ministry of Prince of Peace. To assist them, we are seeking members to "mentor" each of these family units-becoming their "Fellowship Friends." Are you able to attend and meet a family that evening? Would you sit with them in church on Sunday, August 28, when they become members? This is a great opportunity to meet new people and help them get familiar with all that Prince of Peace has to offer! For more information and to volunteer to be a FF, please call Elaine Zimmer or Hazelle Nyberg.

The time of closure of the interim period at Prince of Peace is swiftly approaching.
During the months that we served together we were able to work toward this point of beginning a new chapter of life for the congregation. It has been my joy to work closely with you and with the staff of this church. As you look forward to a bright and vibrant future, may God bless you all with renewed energy and heightened capacity of sharing your gifts of ministry with the community and the greater church.
My time as interim senior pastor will conclude August 30, 2011. I will continue my prayer support for the leadership, the staff and the congregation as a whole. God's blessings to you all.
