PASTOR CHAD BREKKE RECEIVES CALL

VOTE PASSES.

On Sunday, July 17, 2011, our congregation affirmed the recommendation of our Call Team. A call to serve at Prince of Peace has been sent to Pastor Chad Brekke. Pastor Brekke is currently serving St. Matthews Lutheran Church in Chester Springs, PA.

Pastor Chad Our Call Team was deeply touched by the congregation's words of encouragement and their thankfulness expressed on Sunday. Pastor Chad is eager to receive our formal "Letter of Call" and begin the discernment process with his family. A formal announcement of acceptance will be posted on the Web and in E-News and will be shared during worship.

This is an exciting time at Prince of Peace! We are beginning a new chapter in our ministries to grow deep in faith and reach out in love. It is with faith, hope and trust that we begin this chapter together. We are thankful for Pastor Mark's leadership and the continuation of Pastor Jim's ministry during this time of transition.

You've probably heard that Pastor Chad and his wife, Lori, are Minnesotans. We plan to give them a hearty Minnesota "welcome home" when the time comes. Until then, let us remain in prayer for the discernment process and for our pastoral leaders.

Hey Sports People!

Several sports seasons are officially in full swing, so please send Katie your child's sports schedules and she will try and make it to a game - and if they are in a weekend tournament send her the full schedule and she will try and make it to the tournament. Now that the summer routine is established it will be a great chance for me to get out and see you on the fields, or courts - or whatever it may be!

Catch the Excitement!

We are embarking on a new era, one that will advance our ministry locally and globally. We are preparing to welcome Pastor Chad Brekke shortly, and we have a list of things to accomplish from the Congregational Council and the Special Gifts team before his arrival.
Our Priorities:
  • Relocation expenses
  • Transitional non-budgeted salary expenses
  • Technology support and equipment
  • Senior Pastor initiatives
Our goal is to raise $36,000 by the end of the year.

Are you in?

Your support will help ensure that Pastor Chad can quickly share his worship and ministry skills with our community of faith. Can we count on you? By now you have received a mailing from Prince of Peace with details. Return the Special Gift card and your contribution in the envelope and write "I'm In" on the memo line.
If you have questions, contact Ron Welde, our Special Gifts Team Chairman.
God's blessings to you all!

I just finished reading "Heaven is for Real" by Todd Burpo and after reading this book, I have an even greater "blessed assurance" of what our Heavenly Father has in store for us. It's not that I doubted the existence of heaven, but now I embrace it with far more excitement than ever before. The verses from John 14 , which were read at my father's and grandmother's funeral, carry even greater significance and hope than before. "In my Father's house are many rooms; if it were not so, I would have told you. I am going there to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am." (John 14:2-3 ) After a near death experience in surgery, little Colton Burpo describes heaven and the people he encounters there - members of his family and he shares things he couldn't possibly know. Reading this book warmed my heart. It is a book that brings "blessed assurance" that yes, in fact, Jesus is mine! (I am donating this book to the church library.)

See you Sunday,
