| POCKETS FULL OF HOPE | | Grass roots support for Feed My Starving Children 9-year-old Emma Verkuilen is on a mission to help hungry children in the world. TODAY you can help by purchasing a unique "pocketbook purse" for only $10-made with love by Emma herself. All proceeds go to Feed my Starving Children, a non-profit Christian organization that feeds children in poverty-stricken countries.
Emma was moved by the news reports following the earthquake in Haiti. For her 8th birthday party, she asked her friends to bring donations to help Haiti rather than gifts for herself. She raised $500 for FMSC. A gift of a blue jean pocket purse inspired her to create them herself, and this mission took flight. Using discarded jeans, ribbon, fabric paints and her mom's sewing machine, Emma creates pockets of hope. 100% of sales goes to Feed My Starving Children, thanks to a Thrivent grant for expenses. Visit Emma's table in the Welcome Center on Sunday or contact the Verkuilen family
to arrange a purchase. |

At our most recent Lenten Service, Pastor Mark encouraged us to practice the same disciplines as the early church - just as we have been doing throughout the years. He shared six key areas that are emphasized by the early church.
1. Build on a foundation of repentance and faith. (Confess sin and be forgiven)
2. Teach through the Apostles. (The Word)
3. Embrace Christian fellowship, as with the Lord's Supper
4. Care for others (Grow deep, and reach out).
5. Be a joyous community of faith.
6. Pray always.
What wonderful promises of hope our Lord and Savior brings to all of the Easter People who live in a Good Friday world!
