Tree

"You're a tree replanted in Eden, bearing fresh fruit every month, never dropping a leaf, always in blossom."

Psalm 1:3 (The Message)

Take a close look at a tree in the yard. Get close, as you will not see leaves, much less fruit. It is early spring, but if you look at the end tip of a twig you will be able to see a miracle - a small and tiny bud. Those buds are signs of new life. Twigs are teeming with promise, hope and newness.  Through the weeks ahead the promise will be seen in the form of leaves and shade from the noonday sun. For now, we have to wait.  There is little we can do to "hurry it along".

The twigs, teeming with promise, remind me of times of transition and change; times like the interim times that congregations experience.  The community of faith known as Prince of Peace Church is traversing the    interim journey toward a new senior pastor.  None of us can "hurry it along", anymore than we can hurry along the growth of leaves on a tree.  But we can be about some things. We can be patient and attentive to new growth and glimpses of God's guiding hand among us. We can worship and read the scriptures and pray for each other. We can hold close to God's unfolding promises each day and we can encourage and support each other. We can be aware of God's Spirit stirring within us and around us inviting us into God's future.

So, trust, expect and pray to God. Be patient and hopeful. God is at work at Prince of Peace.

God's Peace, Pr. Bents

SUNDAY SCHOOL NEWS
CLANCY'S CORNER

Sunday SchoolSunday is my last day here and Katie will be back on Monday, April 4th. She is nervous about returning to work and and leaving sweet baby Zoey in the care of someone else, so please help make her transition smooth. Many of you Moms probably remember your first days back at work. I know the amazing Prince of Peace members will show her the same kindness and support that were shown to me. Thank you for welcoming and supporting both Katie and me - you're awesome!

As for me, I have been holding down three jobs between here and Mankato for three months so it will be nice to have some time off to put my elementary education degree to task and apply for teaching positions. Anyone know of teaching vacancies? (hint-hint!!)

SUNDAY SCHOOL VOLUNTEERS: RESOURCE ROOM HELP AND WORKSHOP LEADERS NEEDED!

We continue to have a need for Workshop Leaders for 9 am and 10:30 am. A little help is needed in the Resource Room, too. We need someone to oversee the Resource Room to put away bins, make copies and get supplies for teachers when needed. Please let me know if you are interested. This is a great and rewarding way to support the children's ministry. Please contact Amanda for more information.

MEET JACKSON DOUGLAS BAUERNSCHMIDT
JacksonBorn April 1, 2011

Nikki and Doug Bauernschmidt welcomed Jackson into the world at 1:28 am. He's a beautiful boy weighing 8 1/2 pounds and is 21 1/2 inches long. Nikki is the Nursery Coordinator at Prince of Peace. Jackson has two big sisters who are anxious to get to know him!

Our Lord invites us to pause and pray as we prepare our hearts and minds for Holy Week and Easter. These seasons can't be rushed, as Pastor Bents so aptly shares in the opening of this newsletter. Thankfully we have the Holy Spirit and the love of Christ with us always, supporting us and giving the strength we need to face the opportunities and challenges of each new day. We can pause and pray as we enrich our faith and serve others through mentoring, donating blood, eating Sammy's Pizza and remembering loved ones through the Easter Garden.

May the Lord bless you.
