A recap of Recent "Reaching Out"

 Jesus in blanket

Pastor Luke crafted a message three days before Christmas. It was about people who live near us who are homeless and cold on any given night. God touched your heart and you responded with more than 80 blankets! Through this generous act, we pray God will bless you and the recipients of the blankets. The simple gift of warmth is one that is very appreciated, particularly in January in Minneapolis! The organization, 363 Days, distributes the blankets. They are the ones we work with to make 1500 sandwiches on Thanksgiving Eve.

During Advent, we focused on the four points of the living water logoAdvent Conspiracy - Worship Fully - Spend Less - Give More - Love All. In the vein of "give more and love all" we encouraged people to spend less on material things and give more of themselves to others. (You remember "give the gift of 'presence'?") Part of the money not spent on material goods was donated to a well project - providing fresh water to those who had none. We collected more than $3600 that has been sent to Living Water International.

  • 400+ toys for the CEAP Toy Drive
  • 500+ boxes for Operation Christmas Child
  • Raking lawns
  • Serving at CEAP
  • Filling food pantry shelves

Clearly, the love of Jesus Christ is at work within this community of faith. I can't wait to see what God has in store for us in 2011!

KATIE'S KORNER

While I am on maternity leave, Amanda Clancy will be here in my place. She has helped with Veggie Camp for the past few summers and I know that she will do a great job. Her main focus will be to run our Sunday School Ministry, but she will also oversee many other ministry areas that I am in charge of.  If you need to contact her, please use my email address: katiet@princeofpeacechurch.org as she will have access to it. Craig and I get more and more excited as our due date approaches and we want to thank you for all of the support that you have given us.  We will send an update when there is news to share!  Baby Rykal will be here before you know it!
