Kenny's Corner
Russell Feed and Supply has a birthday this month! We celebrate 14 years on October 1st. It's been a blessing to work in the feed industry for more than 37 years, 23 years with Ruthardts where I started out, and the last 14 years with Russell Feed & Supply. Thanks to everyone who has helped us make it a success. Teresa and I just returned from Spain were we spent time visiting with our daughter who is studying abroad this semester. Spain is a very nice country; they sure love ham, olives and sangria. Hope to get back there soon. October is a busy month for us. Read more of Kenny's Corner and Hay Report on our website. |

Feeding Programs for
Drought Stressed Cattle
Traditionally, grazed forages provide beef cows the majority of their nutrients during the spring and summer months. However, during droughts when forage production stops, alternative feeds and feeding programs need to be used utilized until forages are growing again.
Building the Case for Cattle Expansion
Jim Robb, director of the Livestock Marketing Information Center outlines the reasons why cow-calf producers could reap financial benefits by expanding their cow herds over the next few years.
Cattle industry analysts got a bit of a surprise recently when the September Cattle-On-Feed report showed the U.S. inventory of cattle on feed at 105 percent of last year, significantly less than the expected level of 108 percent.
