Spring is in the air and it's wonderful splendors are upon us as you join us for our 19th Annual Wine & Herb Festival. Our event runs three days, April 29th through May 1st or May 6th through May 8th, Mother's Day. What a great way to honour Mom if she's an avid gardener. Hours are Friday 1:00pm till 5:00pm, Saturday and Sunday 10:00am till 6:00pm. Guests receive a souvenir wine glass, a plant carrier and sixteen herb or veggie plants especially grown by Dickman Farms of Auburn.

Start this event early on either Friday at these participating wineries, Montezuma, King Ferry, Long Point and Six Mile Creek and don't forget on each Saturday of the event at 9:00am visit the east side wineries, Long Point and King Ferry. To encourage our Wine & Herb folks to return to our fall events the Wine and Herb committee has designed our Grow and Show contests where we've placed emphasis on your culinary flair. Enter your best recipe according to the contest and see if your recipe will place within next year's Wine & Herb winery recipes. A few contests to choose from is Best Herb Bread at Montezuma's Harvest Hoedown on September 17th and Best Tasting Salsa at Knapp Winery at their Fall Fiesta on September 24th.

At this event each wine is paired with an herb or veggie delicacy, complimenting the plant that the winery is giving away. Charlie and Donna Claes remark "We've been Season Pass holders since 2000 so I guess that really makes us "regulars! This will be the eleventh year that we take advantage of Wine and Herb to get our garden started. And I think we still have some of the original herbs!"

Here is a list of our select herbs and veggies: Big Bertha Pepper, Boxwood Basil, Cajun Belle (hot pepper), Cherokee Purple Tomato, Cilantro, Fern Leaf Dill, Napa Grape Tomato, Oregano, Rosemary, Sage, Savory, Tarragon, Thai Basil, Thyme, White Lavender, Yellow Sweet Onion. This year Swedish Hill is serving their Taco Soup, their veggie is Cajun Belle Peppers . At Long Point Winery Italian Minestrone Soup is on the menu for they have oregano. Goose Watch Winery will be serving Garlic Pasta with Grape Tomatoes. "Can you guess what their handing out?"

Imagine being picked up in a luxury bus, touring the wineries along the wine trail and enjoying fine wines and delectable treats as you receive all your favorite herb and veggie plants. Join us for our worry free complete packages. Each package includes accommodations for either one or two night stays, transportation for 8 hours and tickets to our Wine & Herb event.

Make sure to turn in your filled out ticket at the last winery you plan to visit. Participants are eligible to win one of our Grand Prizes from: Experience! The Finger Lakes in Ithaca, Kidders Landing Restaurrant along Cayuga Lake in Interlaken and LaTourelle Resort & Spa in Ithaca.

April 16    Knapp Vineyards, Jazz Appreciation Month Wine Dinner
Do not expect music to be the main course. Music inspired foods from songs like-I Left My Heart in San Francisco featuring sourdough bread or Cry Me a River might include a salmon dish and Georgia on My Mind will dictate a peachy entrée. April 16    Sheldrake Point Vineyard & Simply Red Lakeside Bistro, Wine Club Barrel Tasting. This popular, annual event takes place in our winemaking building. It is an intimate affair featuring tastings of our 2010 vintages in progress, taken right from the tank and barrel. Your guides will be wine grower/partner Bob Madill and wine maker David Breeden. The experience includes sampling small foods with the wines to gain a better appreciation of the affinity of food and wine. Foods by Simply Red Bistro will be specially prepared to compliment the wines. $15 per Wine Club member.
