PTA Meeting Today! - 8:15am

Join us for the first PTA meeting of the year TODAY at 8:15am in the Meadows Cafeteria. We will be highlighting the events of the year and voting on our 2012-13 budget. Come see what is in store for the year. Any PTA member who would like to receive a copy of the budget for review can email Justine Hunter (justinecpa@gmail.com) for an electronic copy. We will have hard copies at the meeting. Hope to see you there! |

Have you joined the PTA yet? Help your classroom get $100 to spend!!!

 The Meadows PTA Membership drive is in full swing. As you know, Meadows PTA spent almost $350 per student last year on things such as printers and ink, science lab, library books and classroom supplies, curriculum supplements and iPads. That money also funds extra programming such as Young At Art, cultural arts, public speaking and assemblies. Click here to donate online or here to download and print the donation form. Each class that reaches 100% participation will receive $100.
Also - did you know that many companies offer matching donations? Some of them are Directv, Northrup Grumman, Toyota, Bank of America, Wells Fargo, Belkin, and Electronic Arts. Please check with your company to see if they participate. When you are making a donation to PTA, let us know what company you work for and if they offer matching donations. Back to School Movie Night this Friday - 6-9pm! | |  Don't miss the Back to School Movie Night this Friday at Meadows featuring the hit movie, The Lorax! It's fun for the entire family. Bring your blankets and low lawn chairs, purchase dinner from Mama Ds, get your 2012-13 Meadows gear, and catch up with your friends. Dinner starting at 6:00pm and the movie will start at 7:30. To avoid lines to purchase dinner, pre-sale tickets will be available on Friday at the Scrip table after school. Don't worry, you can purchase any food items the night of the event without pre-sale tickets as well. See you at the lower playground on Friday! |
| Life is Like a Box of Chocolates... | |  You never know what you're going to get. But with the Innisbrook Fundraiser, we know what to expect: Helen Grace chocolates, gift wrap, quality gifts and more. We also know we'll raise much-needed money to help support the Meadows community. This year, we're adding in some bonus prizes including iPod Shuffles and plush clip ons. Emergency Kits due on Friday!
| |  Don't forget to turn in your emergency kits to your classroom by this Friday! The classroom bins will be placed in the shed on the playground on Friday afternoon. | Get Your 2012-2013 Meadows Gear! | |  Order your Meadows t-shirts and long-sleeve tees as well as picnic blankets, drawstring backpacks and keychains by September 30, 2012. Adult and child sizes available. All new designs for 2012-2013. Specify size and color. Order forms are available in the Meadows office or on the Meadows website. | Mustang Trot 2012 T-Shirt Design Contest | |  Want to see your design on this year's Mustang Trot t-shirts? We do!! Students in 1st thru 5th grade are encouraged to submit their original designs by September 28th. If your design wins, it will be worn by all 1st through 5th grade students, teachers, and staff on the day of the Mustang Trot on November 9th!! MBEF - 1st/2nd Grade Writing Workshop - this Wednesday | | 
MBEF invites all 1st and 2nd Grade parents to join us for the second in a series of Parent Education talks by Deborah Hofreiter, the leading force behind the Districtwide Writing Initiative.
All 1st and 2nd Grade Parents are encouraged to attend this Wednesday, September 19th at 7:00pm in the Pacific Elementary School Cafeteria.
Ms. Hofreiter will provide information about: What writing looks like in 1st & 2nd Grade, how to encourage more writing, and changes in the writing program.
Please mark your calendar. You will not want to miss this valuable information.

Meals for Meadows at CPK - Monday, Sept 24th | |  Join your fellow Meadows families for our first restaurant fundraiser of the year! Come to CPK in the Manhattan Village Mall on Monday, September 24th all day. Make sure to bring this flyer to the fundraiser and Meadows gets 20% of your check (donation amount does not include gift cards). Adventure Guides Information Night - Sept 24th | |  Girls and boys in Kindergarten through second grade and their dads - The Adventure Guides information session is Monday, September 24, 7:00pm, at American Martyrs O'Donnell Hall (15th Street and Laurel Avenue in Manhattan Beach). Shouldn't their best memories be with you? The Y Adventure Guides Voyagers Program is for dads and their children in Kindergarten through 2nd grades. Dad/daughter or dad/son pairs join a larger group for activities, community service, and campouts. Highlights include such traditions as the Hometown Fair Sponge Toss, Adopt a Family, Yucaipa, and Catalina.
