Forms Due This Week! 

Please thank the wonderful teachers and staff of Meadows with a year-end group SCRIP gift certificate. Collection forms have been sent home in the 5/22 Tuesday envelope. You can also download a form on www.MeadowsSchool.org. In order to ensure the certificates are distributed in time for the teachers and staff to receive their gifts before year-end, please note the firm due date of Thursday, May 31. Thank you! Our next restaurant fundraiser will be at CPK THIS Wednesday, May 30th. A portion of the day's proceeds will be donated to Meadows Elementary. Please present the flyer when ordering. CPK is also holding a contest - the classroom that brings in the most money will have pizzas delivered to their class for an end of the year pizza party! Write your teacher's name on the flyer (or two teachers if you want the amount split between two classes) to receive credit. The fundraiser is from opening until closing! Office luncheons, inviting friends and family and take out orders are all great ways to earn points. 

Get a jump start on the next school year by ordering your school supply kits now! All the contents of the kits were handpicked by the Meadows teachers with the supplies your student needs for his/her class next year.  This is service provided by the PTA to make back to school shopping easy for the parents, and to help the teachers equip the students with the supplies they will need.  Kits can be ordered ONLINE ONLY at  www.ordermypack.com.  You will need to enter our school number: 116016 to access the kits by grade. Please make sure to order NEXT years grade. All kits will be shipped to school prior to the new school year.

Don't buy your summer reading books just yet, come join your school on Thursday, May 31 from 5:30-8:30pm for a fun evening at B&N! Have dinner or dessert in the café, enjoy the scavenger hunt and story time while stocking up on summer books. Recommended summer reading lists will be available with tables set up by grade to encourage our readers. Come try your chance to win a color NOOK!!  Raffle tickets will be on sale for $5 each. Drawing to be held after the May 31st Barnes and Noble event. Invite your friends! The Annual Rocketry Contest for all 4th and 5th graders is coming up! MBEF and Boeing are sponsoring the event on Friday, June 8th at Mira Costa Waller Stadium from 4:30-7:30pm. Come watch paper rockets being launched the length of the football field! There will be prizes, food, and lots of fun! Save the Date for the annual Meadows yearbook signing party. This year's event will include food trucks! The yearbook signing will take place Tuesday, June 19 from 5:00-7:30pm (note time change) on the lower playground. More details to follow.

Grades of Green is excited to announce that we are accepting applications for the 2012-2013 Youth Board of Advisors! The Youth Board of Advisors gives students the opportunity to build leadership skills, participate in public appearances, and learn how to effectively work in their communities to protect the environment. Grades of Green is looking for a diverse group of outstanding students who have shown a passion for helping the environment. No experience is necessary, but Youth Board Advisors will be required to implement, or help implement, at least one Grades of Green or other environmental education activity at their school. They also will be asked to orchestrate or participate in one community outreach event (e.g., a Beach Cleanup or Earth Day booth). The Youth Board is open to kids of all ages, assuming they are old enough to handle these responsibilities. Many things are being stored in our emergency supply shed that do not belong in there. We are cleaning out and organizing the shed to be for emergency purposes only. There are carnival supplies, soccer equipment, bags of material and all kinds of other things that need to be removed ASAP. Anything unclaimed by June 4th will be donated or tossed.
