Grades of Green and Growing Great Nursery Sale
| |  Haven't planted your garden yet? Grades of Green and Growing Great are teaming up to host a nursery sale on Fridays after school during the month of May. The plants are in pots up-cycled from the lunch trays you can plant directly in the ground. A variety of tomatoes, peppers, strawberries, squash, and herbs will be available. Varieties will change from week to week. All proceeds will go to the PTA. Come check it out THIS FRIDAY from 2-3 pm next to the scrip table by the cafeteria. |

This week there will only be a Friday SCRIP Table and we are starting the annual process of selling out our inventory. Please stop by and help us clear inventory while making a final push for your child's class to win the challenge and earn bonus fund for a year-end party!! Attention All 5th Graders!

The MBMS Ambassador Carnival for all incoming 6th graders is taking place THIS Friday, May 11th from 3:00-5:00pm at MBMS. It is a fun-filled afternoon organized by the MBMS ASB and Ambassador Club. Games, rock climbing wall, dunk tank, food, drinks and FUN! Its a great opportunity for incoming 6th graders to see their friends from other elementary schools and check out MBMS.

| Become a Meadows Cub Scout! | |  Boys going into 1st through 4th grade next year are welcome to join Meadows Cub Scout Pack 275 where our goal is to have "Fun with a Purpose." Annual Scout activities include camping, hiking, community service, Pinewood Derby, leadership development, bike rodeo and much more! Please stop by our booth outside the kindergarten area Friday, May 11th during drop off/pick-up to meet some of our Scouts and leaders and learn more about the program. Parents Soccer Tournament Saturday
| |  Come Support Meadows! The Jeff Goodrich Parents Soccer Classic will once again be held at Mira Costa High School at Waller Stadium this Saturday, May 11. Come cheer on Team Meadows as we face parents from each of the other schools in the District. Proceeds from this event will benefit the Manhattan Beach Athletic Foundation (MBAF) which funds facilities, programs, and equipment that benefit our children in the Manhattan Beach School District. There will be food, drink, a raffle, Mother's Day flowers for sale and plenty of soccer action all day. Staff Appreciation Day
| |  Staff Appreciation Day at Meadows will be on May 16th. We will be honoring our entire staff for the hard work they put in all year in order to make Meadows the great school that it is. Manhattan Beach Centennial Parade
| |  Interested in Walking in the Parade with Meadows?
Let's show some Mustang pride Meadows families! Please join us to walk in the Centennial Parade on Saturday, May 19th at 10:00 am. We will have a decorated car carrying our very own "Stang" and a large banner for others to carry. Wear your Meadows shirts and come join the fun. According to parade regulations, all participants must be at least 8 years old and must sign a "Special Event Waiver and Release of Liability." The waiver must be signed and returned to the office no later than Wednesday, May 16th. In addition, each individual in the parade must sign the entry list that will be in the Meadows office. The parade route is one way from Pacific school to Polliwog Park. There is a drop off location at the East side of Pacific and 17th Street. Our float will be staged at Pacific School on Manhattan Beach Blvd. just a bit West of John Street. Please meet there between 9:00-9:30. If parents are not walking with their child, please plan to meet them at the Historical Society House immediately following the parade. Moms' Night Out in May
| |  Raise a Glass to Moms! Ladies, join us for a night of relaxation on the patio of Salt Creek Grille in El Segundo on Tuesday, May 22 from 7-10pm. This night is to reward yourself for all you do as a mother. All ladies are welcome, so grab a friend and come on down. Ticket purchase information will be in the Tuesday envelopes. Please purchase your tickets by May 16. On May 4 and May 11 we will be selling tickets at the scrip table after school. |
| Scholar Quiz at MBMS | | Attention 5th grade parents! Want to get an insider's view of MBMS? Come watch Scholar Quiz! This high-speed academic competition (think Jeopardy at 100 mph) galvanizes the entire campus for seven days in the Spring each year. Join the lunch time fun (12:30 - 1:20) during the early rounds May 23 and May 24, or the finals on June 1 at 1:00 pm. It's a great way to get a feel for the Middle School. Questions? | Win A Pizza Party for Your Class! | |  Our next restaurant fundraiser will be at CPK on Wednesday, May 30th. A portion of the day's proceeds will be donated to Meadows Elementary. Please present the flyer when ordering. CPK is also holding a contest - the classroom that brings in the most money will have pizzas delivered to their class for an end of the year pizza party! Write your teacher's name on the flyer (or two teachers if you want the amount split between two classes) to receive credit. The fundraiser is from opening until closing! Office luncheons, inviting friends and family and take out orders are all great ways to earn points. |
| 2012-2013 School Supply Kits | |  On Sale May 1-31Get a jump start on the next school year by ordering your school supply kits now! All the contents of the kits were handpicked by the Meadows teachers with the supplies your student needs for his/her class next year. This is service provided by the PTA to make back to school shopping easy for the parents, and to help the teachers equip the students with the supplies they will need. Kits can be ordered ONLINE ONLY at www.ordermypack.com. You will need to enter our school number: 116016 to access the kits by grade. Please make sure to order NEXT years grade. All kits will be shipped to school prior to the new school year. If you have an incoming Meadows Second grader, the second grade team had opted to provide a "Teacher Provided" Kit.
