| Evening PTA Meeting with Dr. Matthews | |  Please join us at the next PTA Meeting on Tuesday, May 8 at 7:00pm. MBUSD Superintendent Dr. Matthews will be there to give us a "State of the Schools and a Look Ahead to Next Year" and answer any questions you may have. More special guests are planned: Meadows alumni who are graduating from Mira Costa share their experiences and their future plans. We hope you can attend and show your support! |
Grades of Green and Growing Great Nursery Sale
| |  Haven't planted your garden yet? Grades of Green and Growing Great are teaming up to host a nursery sale on Fridays after school during the month of May. The plants are in pots up-cycled from the lunch trays you can plant directly in the ground. A variety of tomatoes, peppers, strawberries, squash, and herbs will be available. Varieties will change from week to week. All proceeds will go to the PTA. Come check it out starting May 4th from 2-3 pm next to the scrip table by the cafeteria. |
Two SCRIP Tables Are Better Than One!

To ensure kindergarten parents can participate fully, we are having a Thursday SCRIP Table from 11:15 am to 12:30 pm out in front of the Meadows' office. Everyone is welcome but we hope that to see a lot of kindergarten parents! Bring your check books (cash/debit/credit also accepted). Friday SCRIP Table will be open as usual from 2 - 3 pm outside the cafeteria. If you can't stop by, please complete your weekly order form or order online at www.ShopWithScrip.com. Staff Appreciation Day
| |  Staff Appreciation Day at Meadows will be on May 16th. We will be honoring our entire staff for the hard work they put in all year in order to make Meadows the great school that it is. The PTA is sponsoring a luncheon for the staff on this day. Look for a note from your room parent(s) for details. Pennekamp Open 2012
| |  Please support education by participating in the Pennekamp Tennis Open on May 5 at Mira Costa High School. Grab your friends and spend the day playing a fast-paced, round-robin format women's doubles tournament. Four separate divisions based on playing level, with two winners per division. Prizes will be given to all the winners. Raffle prizes given throughout the day. And when you aren't on the court, enjoy a few tips from the pros! 100% of the proceeds will be donated to MBEF. Attention All 5th Graders!

The MBMS Ambassador Carnival for all incoming 6th graders is taking place on Friday, May 11th from 3:00-5:00pm at MBMS. It is a fun-filled afternoon organized by the MBMS ASB and Ambassador Club. Games, rock climbing wall, dunk tank, food, drinks and FUN! Its a great opportunity for incoming 6th graders to see their friends from other elementary schools and check out MBMS.

Calling All Soccer Players!
| |  We are looking for some soccer playing PARENTS to represent Meadows in this annual fundraiser tournament. Proceeds will benefit the Manhattan Beach Athletic Foundation (MBAF) which funds facilities, programs, and equipment that benefit our children in the Manhattan Beach School District. Meadows will battle teams from the other MBUSD schools on May 12 at Mira Costa's Waller Stadium. We'll begin practicing in April so please let us know if you would like to join Team Meadows ASAP! Moms' Night Out in May
| |  Raise a Glass to Moms! Ladies, join us for a night of relaxation on the patio of Salt Creek Grille in El Segundo on Tuesday, May 22 from 7-10pm. This night is to reward yourself for all you do as a mother. All ladies are welcome, so grab a friend and come on down. Ticket purchase information will be in the Tuesday envelopes. Please purchase your tickets by May 16. On May 4 and May 11 we will be selling tickets at the scrip table after school. |
| 2012-2013 School Supply Kits | |  On Sale May 1-31Get a jump start on the next school year by ordering your school supply kits now! All the contents of the kits were handpicked by the Meadows teachers with the supplies your student needs for his/her class next year. This is service provided by the PTA to make back to school shopping easy for the parents, and to help the teachers equip the students with the supplies they will need. Kits can be ordered ONLINE ONLY at www.ordermypack.com. You will need to enter our school number: 116016 to access the kits by grade. Please make sure to order NEXT years grade. All kits will be shipped to school prior to the new school year. If you have an incoming Meadows Second grader, the second grade team had opted to provide a "Teacher Provided" Kit.
