MBEF Thanks!

Thank you Mustangs for your incredible support of MBEF! This year Meadows participation went up to 89% from 82% last year and we raised $313,121. Overall MBEF surpassed its goal and raised $ 4.7 Million to support our district next year. To celebrate our success, MBEF will host a popsicle social TOMORROW, Wednesday, March 14 after school for all students. Stop by the Rowell playground to join us. And again, THANK YOU for your support!!

Camp Expo 2012 | |  Looking for a great summer camp for your child? Then stop by the camp Expo and check out the many offerings for local and sleep away summer camps all in one convenient place! Camp Expo will be held on THIS Saturday, March 17 from 10am-2pm at Manhattan Beach Middle School, 1501 Redondo Ave in Manhattan Beach. Admission to the Expo is free. In addition to the Camp Expo, there will be a food truck fest in the MBMS parking lot adjacent to the entrance to the Expo. Stop by to sign up your child for summer camps and enjoy some tasty food truck cuisine. A portion of the food sales will benefit Meadows PTA. |
3rd Annual Mother/Son Game Night | | Tickets on Sale NOW
Moms, grab your sons and head on over to the Meadows Cafe on Friday, March 30th for some game playing fun! Tickets are $10 per person and are pre-order ONLY. (Please visit the Meadows website for order form.) Don't miss out on the fun--ticket orders due by Friday, March 23rd. Checks only please. Mixed Bag Fundraiser
| |  Meadows Mixed Bag Fundraiser is starting this week. Select from reusable bags, iPad, iPhone, iPod and lap top cases, all kinds of totes, garment bags, cosmetic bags, coolers, table top and gift items and more. Look for more information in the Tuesday envelope and view many of the products at ice cream Fridays beginning Friday March 16. European Wax Center Fundraiser | | Ouch! That's more money for Meadows! During the month of March, Meadows PTA is the Cause of the Month at European Wax Center. For every new customer that mentions Meadows PTA, European Wax Center will donate $10. Check them out in the Manhattan Marketplace (Bristol Farms shopping center) and don't forget to mention Meadows! |
Pennekamp Open 2012
| |  Please support education by participating in the Pennekamp Tennis Open on Saturday, April 14 at Mira Costa High School. Grab your friends and spend the day playing a fast-paced, round-robin format women's doubles tournament. Four separate divisions based on playing level, with two winners per division. Prizes will be given to all the winners. Raffle prizes given throughout the day. And when you aren't on the court, enjoy a few tips from the pros! 100% of the proceeds will be donated to MBEF. The Manhattan Village mall has some fun things planned this month! Please see the flyer in your child's Tuesday envelope. Also, from now until April 30th, if you buy any gift certificate from the concierge, Meadows will receive triple points on every gift certificate purchased. Lastly, a reminder that April 30 is the last day to turn in receipts from any store in the shopping center. Please place your receipts in the box for Shopping for Students in the office.

Grades of Green Update | |  Save your old sneakers! The 5th Grade Girl Scout Troop 11635 will be setting collection boxes for the Nike Reuse-a-Shoe project. Check out http://www.nikereuseashoe.com to learn more about how your shoes can be reused to make sport surfaces. We are also hosting a Terracycle classroom challenge. Each classroom has been given a collection bin for Scotch Tape, Elmer's glue bottles and sticks, and Papermate and Sharpie pens. The classroom with the most points will win a prize for the teacher and class. More stuff: If you have an old screen door or window in your garage, we need the screen. Also, if you have a blender that still works but no longer use, we could use it for an upcoming for an upcoming project. We are still in need of those empty Clorox wipe containers. There is a collection bin outside the office for any donations. |

Manhattan Beach Centennial Celebration | | Volunteers Needed The Manhattan Beach Centennial is coming and the committee is looking for some volunteers! Beginning Wednesday, they are looking for volunteers who are interested in working 4-8 hour shifts, M-F. These positions are purely administrative. Casual attire, making phone calls, writing letters, mailing letters, sourcing things for the events, etc. There are some really terrific events coming up - and it's going to be great fun planning it all!
