Greetings to Alumni, Families, & Friends
2011 has been an exciting year for CeDAR. We started the year by celebrating our 5th anniversary with a smashing concert and benefit featuring rocker Bon Jovi. Alumni were offered free tickets to the event due to the generosity of the Anschutz Foundation.
We opened our second cottage and now offer gender specific services to women in the primary care program. Our patients and staff report that this has been a highly successful addition to our program.
CeDAR alumni enjoyed fellowship and fun at a ski weekend in Aspen. The CeDAR Alumni Softball Team Alumni participated with great determination in Denver's 12 Step League.
Alumni also engaged in several interactive workshops that were facilitated by CeDAR staff. The"Art of Recovery" workshop led by alumni Emily M. was so popular that it is now part of the regular activity schedule for our patients.
We held our first on-line auction in conjunction with the CeDAR annual Alumni & Friend Golf Tournament and surpassed our fundraising efforts to benefit the Family Scholarship and Alumni Activities programs.
At our annual picnic in September, we reconnected and visited with many alumni and families while enjoying a delicious barbeque and laughing with those who sang during our "Karaoke Concert".
Anne Felton, who has been with CeDAR from the outset, was named Director of Operations. And with the retirement of Frank Lisnow, our executive director who led us through CeDAR's first 5 years, we welcome the new executive director Steve Millette.
The Alumni Services Department is also growing with the addition of new staff member Heather Watson-Lister and we are offering a slate of exciting activities in 2012. We invite you to check out our new CeDAR Alumni Facebook page to stay current about all the events at CeDAR as well resources in your recovery community for you and your families.
During the past 5 years, CeDAR is proud to have worked with over 1500 patients and their families. We look forward to continuing our mission to provide a foundation for recovery with compassion, respect and hope to many others who are still suffering from addiction.
Before 2011 ends, we want to let you know how much we appreciate you and all of your support for CeDAR. We wish you and your loved ones a happy holiday season and a new year full of joyful recovery.
Best regards,
Lorie Obernauer
Alumni Services Liaison
