Alice MacLennan Honored

Peekskill City School District Supervisor of Special Education Alice MacLennan was honored recently by her peers and colleagues for 22 years of service to the Peekskill City School District. At the annual Recognition Breakfast held by the Peekskill Community Network, Ms. MacLennan was among those honored for showing "exceptional dedication and continued support to the Peekskill Community." The Breakfast was held in the Peekskill Administration Building and attended by many representatives of local agencies.

The Peekskill Community Network, co-chaired by Phyllis Elliott and Stephanie Traub, is part of the Westchester Community Network of social services. Members are those who work in a range of agencies and institutions to help improve the lives of all Peekskill's families.

Alice MacLennan, a graduate of Peekskill High School, is retiring in June from the Peekskill School District where she has served as teacher, counselor, director of alternative education, and supervisor of special education. At the breakfast, she was introduced by Peekskill Middle School social worker Nancy Ehrlich, and commended by Maxine O'Connor, Director of Pupil Personnel Services, who described Ms. MacLennan's tireless commitment to doing the best for every child.

In the photograph, Ms. MacLennan listens while Phyllis Elliott from Family Ties of Westchester shares some of the ways in which the former has helped families in Peekskill.
