Words From The Woodside Wellness Newsletter:
Grow and Maintain Healthy Cells by Eating Lots of Fruit
 | Painting by Christian Gomez
|
- Our bodies are designed to thrive on a diet including large amounts of fruit and soft leafy greens. (This includes the non-sweet seeded fruits we generally call vegetables: tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers, okra, zucchini, and other squashes.)
- We can survive on many different kinds of foods, but we will thrive (living long and disease free lives) on fruits and greens.
- Nutritionally, fruit comes closest to satisfying all of our needs. Fruits contain carbohydrates, fats and protein as well as alkaline minerals such as calcium, potassium, sodium and magnesium. Fruits contain enzymes for converting protein into amino acids and fats into fatty acids.
- Fruits provide us with fructose and glucose we can use without further digestion. They are a perfect fast food that can be eaten on the go, kept in the car for snacks and eaten anytime we are feeling low energy, including before and after exercise.
- Fruits attract our senses and activate our salivary glands because of their beautiful colors, juicy texture, luscious flavors, fresh smells and sweet taste.
- Many phytonutrients that stimulate health and decrease pain reside in fruit. Fruits bring oxygen into our blood. Cancer cells cannot grow in the presence of oxygen.
