Oakside Third Graders Perform at the Paramount
Dancer Andrea Elam, shown above, is a teaching professional with Dance Theater of Harlem--and a Peekskill parent. With the help of grant funding from the Peekskill Education Foundation and Arts Westchester, she conducted a series of dance workshops open to all third graders at Oakside Elementary School. The culminating event was a performance this week at the Paramount Theater of Jerry Pinckney's The Lion and the Mouse. Author Pinckney was able to attend the event and encourage the 100 students who participated. Ms. Elam's talented dance company, Synapses, also performed for the children. |
