Peekskill Holiday Drama Presentation
December 2 and 3

The classic stories of American author O. Henry will take audiences back to old New York this coming weekend at Peekskill High School. The Red Devil Repertory Company, also known at the Peekskill Drama Club, will present tales of love, loss, tragedy, and humor-a perfect family offering for the holiday season. The production is directed by Peekskill's own Katie Schmidt Feder. Come see the talented cast on Friday, December 2 and Saturday, December 3 at 7:30 in the PHS auditorium. Tickets are $10 and $7 for students and seniors. In honor of O. Henry's gift of helping others, please bring a canned good offering to donate to Fred's Pantry.

Fishing in November with the Peekskill Middle School LEAP Program

Taking advantage of some pleasant November weather, a group of Peekskill Middle School students participating in the LEAP Fishing Enrichment after-school program and their teachers embarked on a fishing trip recently. Their vessel was the Shamrock IV and students and staff caught a total of 60 fish! It was a wonderful and unforgettable day. Thanks to LEAP Assistant Principal Naima Smith Moore for the photographs; more can be seen here.

Woodside School Celebrated Veterans in the Peekskill Schools

Kindergarten classes at Woodside Elementary School received a very personal introduction to the meaning of Veterans Day this year. Teachers Camille Colombini and Ruth Dykstra (shown right) worked with their classes to create bulletin boards honoring members of the Woodside family who serve or have served in the military. And teachers Karen Wallis, Gloria Cordova, Therese Wood  and their students created an interactive PowerPoint explaining the Pledge of Allegiance and then invited veterans to share their stories at a special assembly at Woodside. You can see the assembly through a video from The Daily Peekskill, here.

Peekskill High School Band Played for Veterans on November 11

On a cold, clear November 11 morning, Peekskill High School  students joined veterans, local officials, policemen and firemen, and community members who gathered in Monument Park  to honor Peekskill's participation in the conflicts of the 20th and 21st centuries. Over 40 students were in attendance, and they played enthusiastically despite the frigid temperatures. The band was directed by music teacher John Hahn with the assistance of music teacher Lawrence DelCasale.
